Check out the latest letter, a reply from Brian to a Councillor David Parsons

I can understand his heartfelt feelings for the creatures he's trying to protect. Brian is a man whose views, although I don't always agree, are usually expressed articulately and from a sounds knowledge base, but with this reply (and promulgating it though his webpage) leaves a doubt in my mind

I had always assumed that the more bombastic and self-aggrandizing attitudes expressed in Queen songs were written with tongues firmly in cheeks! On reading how he addresses this man: 'little man', 'snivelling jumped-up litlle dweeb' gives me the impression that all is not what it should be in BrianMay world or perhaps, at last, the real character of the man is exposed

Certainly makes me think twice....and I'm not sure I like second thoughts

We've got two offensive messages from Brian (this and one ca three years ago which I remember addressing) against literally thousands of diplomatic ones. So, statistically, his 'colours' are still those of a polite and nice person. Likewise, just because there are people in England who speak Korean, it doesn't mean the true official language of the country is that one.

John hated HS. Fred's fave singer was not PR. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

I thought that Brian was well within his rights to say what he did. This asshole of a councillor did judge Brian presumeably by what he read in the papers. He sided with the farmers and pro-hunt idiots because it was a "popular" thing to do. Personally I am glad that Brian posted a pic of the councillor guy on his website, because now I know what a human halloween cake looks like. :)

Yes, the fact that Brian has chaffed his hands from years of guitar abuse is something we should really get behind.

Poor, poor Brian May.

If you're insufficiently intelligent to even stick to the subject, please refrain from commenting, as it is already well-known that you are a useless prick, so any further evidence is superfluous.

On topic: I'm fully behind Brian on this one. Anyone who argues for artists to shut up about political/social issues belongs in North Korea or Nazi-Germany.

Brian may not have actually chaffed his hands, but he has worked extremely hard to get to where he is. Plus, I don't think that being a wealthy rock star automatically precludes him from speaking on an issue such as this. One can question the way he has gone about it (and I did in the other thread), but I don't think anyone can question his right to speak up on social/political issues.

Brian has heard for decades that rock stars are unintelligent people.  One day he was bound to crack.

Still, there's about 1,000,000,000,000 diplomatic comments from Brian versus 2 or 3 anger-fueled ones.  I think we should cut the guy some slack.

Most people in this world can't relate to living a life of passion, making it easy for them to condemn someone when their passion goes overboard for a brief moment.  It's far easier than trying to understand the passion itself and how it can lead to such a breaking point.

He's just an angry old man with a blog nowadays. His music is great but his soapbox is kinda embarrassing to read at times. Just imagine all those times when you were forced to listen to your grandad's stories that you'd heard 50 times previously and just wanted to get away - that's what Brian's soapbox is nowadays!

Nobody forced you to read it.

If he's not allowed to express himself, what in your wisdom do you think he should be doing?  Accept the world at face value and live a pointless life of inaction?

The last time I checked, Brian is a law-abiding citizen, and therefore has the right to be active in any social/political issue he wants to.

It's bad enough, when I'm called a traitor and a communist, just because I'm politically moderate/liberal, agnostic, and don't worship at the Neo-Con Altar.

Everybody's got a temper.

Did Anita say on one documentary that it takes a lot to wind Brian upand he rarely explodes but when he does its a big one? I guess that's what we've seen here.

Yeah, the McCarthy-attitude is in resurgence all over the Western world, it seems.

Yeah - probably a blip

I can understand how it's possible to 'snap' when provoked - I do think he could have chosen his words more carefully and perhaps made a bigger impact with diplomatic language rather than a tirade of abuse

I'm just not sure I like his superior tone....
