Hi folks,i have hoped for a long time that Queen would be able to keep going in some form or other. Do one more tour with a guest singer and give us a quality album. However its sad to say it but its over now, maybe it was over when dear Freddie walked off stage at Knebworth.BM seems to be quite happy doing a few guest apperances on other peoples albums and saving the world ! Roger can't do it without Brian and will be limited to a small solo tour and Box set of solo stuff and maybe some new stuff. All we are going to get from QP is more Best Of/Hits/Concert Dvds and if we are really lucky Special  editions of classic albums. Is that really enough for a Queen fanatic like myself who was 11 years of age when i first heard SHA.Probably not.I now find myself more interested in other bands like Muse,Stereophonics,Kiss,Asia,Magnum etc. Living breathing bands who still have something new to give. Its hardly supprising that people want to talk about other bands on this site as there is so little new stuff to talk about.

While I understand what you're saying, there's a couple of things I disagree with:

> BM seems to be quite happy doing a few guest apperances on other peoples albums and saving the world !

What Dr May's doing is hardly 'saving the world'. He's not curing cancer, stopping famine or making violent people give up their weapons (or 'put out the fire'). What's next? A QZ campaign to give Brian the Nobel Peace Prize because he wrote foxes shouldn't be killed? I suppose, then, if next week he gives ten quid for a baby elephant that qualifies for him to become PM.

> All we are going to get from QP is more Best Of/Hits/Concert Dvds and if we are really lucky Special  editions of classic albums

The latter would be IMO a hell of a lot more interesting than what they've been up to since Fred died.

> Its hardly supprising that people want to talk about other bands on this site as there is so little new stuff to talk about.

While there's 'so little new stuff to talk about' in terms of recent releases or stuff, there's still a lot we could discuss about their old material. Things like arrangements, instrumentation, vocals, best live versions of 'x' and 'y', backing tracks, recording techniques, revisionism, multi-tracks, etc. Bach died almost 260 years ago and people are still discussing the nuts and bolts of his creations. I don't see why we couldn't discover new gems in 'A Night at the Opera' or 'Queen II' even if they were released decades ago.

John hated HS. Fred's fave singer was not PR. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

Maybe it sounds weird but I don't really expect some kind of breaking news from the band (which is hardly a "band" now btw). I just love their music. I like the other band which is completely "dead" now, but it doesn't change the thing that I love their songs. 'Cos I enjoy listening to them and still discover lots of new (for me, but old in the time scale) info and bits. Same goes for Queen. There's still something there that makes me return to them every time. Something I'm not aware of.
Plus, I'd prefer silence from them than new ads. Either really good new stuff or keep it quiet. All or nothing.

What do you all expect?

This band has lasted longer than most any other successful group. I don't know many bands that constantly wrote hit songs and hit albums for more than 20 years. And after Freddie died they even managed to turn the music into a format (the Musical..) that may last longer than all of us here. Not to forget their recent tours.
So isn't that enough? There is no "sad end".

For example take a look at some of their contemporaries like maybe ...T.Rex...or Sweet. Then you will see, what a "sad end" really looks like...

Its just a bit hard to come to terms with the fact , there will be no new stuff or Queen  tour again. Many bands have evolved over the years and carried on making albums and touring sucessfully.Off the top of my head ,Deep Purple,Black Sabbath,Status Quo,Genesis,Fleetwood Mac,Saxon,Judas Preist,Kiss,Whitesnake,Yes etc. I suppose Queen will never say never ,but at the moment it seems rather a remote chance of much happening in the future. Queen have been in my life for 35 years, every day i have thought about them ,played their music, bought the LPS,Casettes,Cds,Singles,12 inch Remixes,Concert  Tickets,Merchandise. Its a big gap in my life now.Its almost like being married !! So yes i am rather sad about things at the moment, i just hope that one day some day.....

Me, i've completely come to terms with the fact that Queen are no more , or have'nt been for 19 years, i just savor and rejoice in their unparalleled body of work which i have at my disposal. I have no desire to listen to any fried, baked and boiled versions of this or that,  what Queen decided to be fit for release will do me and has done for 36 years.

P.S.  I'm going against my principles here in telling people how to vote, but get onto bbc.co.uk/rockandrollband and vote for Fred and put that pumpkin headed nanny goat Liam Gallagher in his place at the same time.

Most of the bands you mention only had three or five really successful years and also had lots of line-up changes.

I see your point, that you miss Queen...but...they have given more than anyone else and in the end.....all thing must pass...

So you never thought for one moment that Queen would carry on with a new vocalist and when they did with QPR it was nothing to do with Queen.
