Not a spectacular share, but somewhat interesting to look at.

The cuesheet of Queens only Dutch television performance of Killer Queen dating from 1974.
Taken from the book "Voor Queen en Vaderland"

Thanks Dane.

So they were filmed on the 22nd December in Holland just before the European Tour started in Sweden on the 23rd?

There seems to be two photo sessions from this appearance. The first has the band in front of coloured cubes which we have all seen, and the second shows the band in front of a blue screen.

Can anybody shed more light on this please??

Wow!
So after all these years we finally know the filming date!
Is the handwritten date of 5th December the transmission date?

It was filmed with a blue screen, and then you can change the background to anything you like by removing everything that's blue.

So has anybody seen another version that has the blue screen removed and another background image added?

When you see the footage with the coloured cubes it looks like they are actually on the floor with them, I don't think it's a projection of any kind.

Cubes are definitely there, its not a projection. No sign of bluescreen material so far. Maybe it was a photo shoot only in the studio. Anyone with Dutch knowledge can tell us the major stuff written there? I dont recognise any bluescreen reference.

The cue sheets say nothing about a blue screen indeed - it does mention someone who was responsible for STAGE PROPS!  First sheat s just a time table for the people working on the show, what time they need to be in the studio and what there task is. Going from make-up and wardrobe to cameramen, editors, producer etcec. It gives an insight into the technical side of the shoot but tells us not a lot realy Queen-related (other then that they were supposed to arrive at 11.00 and recording started at 15.00). BTW: somebody concluded that it was recorded in December, but the cue sheet says it was done in NOVEMBER!
Second and third sheet, obviously is the guide for the director, when to change angles for instance, and it mentions the kind of lighting used at which specific moment in the song. Quite remarkable: the director wants shots of THE PIANIST! ;-)

When Toppop filmed something in the studio's without an audience, they quite often used blue screen. Actually in those days, apart from the Penny de Jager ballet,  Toppop was quite famous for it's 'dazzling' blue screen effects....!

BUT... I have some real prints from 'outtakes'  of the the quite well known series of pictures that were taken during these shoots by press photographer Laurens van Houten. By far most of the pics he took that day reveal a blue screen unquestionably. Though there are a very few in there that proof that the cubes were indeed realy there on the day! No trickery: the band is standing RIGHT against them, with shadows clearly visible on the cubes.

Most probably the band did a couple of 'run throughs' of the song before the blue screen (note the absence of microphones!), then did the actual shoot with the cubes.

This theory about blue screen is quite interestink... There is also quite a few pics from some tv performance with blue background (or grey on b/w pics) And the instruments are the same - look at this pic one more time http://qliverecordings.tripod.com/unknow.html#mimed and well know video from dutch top pop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq4r8XPbTik&feature=player_embedded - the edges on each members on background aren't to sharp - simple black background and color boxes are quite easy to make some tv trics and remember that it was 70'.
But where is Roger and Brian mics on on this blue/grey pics... ? So this pics come from some rehearsals?

Yes, all those pictures come from the Laurens van Houten series... Same day, same studio and indeed no mics!

When looking at these sheets and watching the video, they really didn't follow the instructions all that well.
I wonder if more takes were done. Wouldn't be unusual I guess.

Very nice to hear some new info was found in my share!
I never knew the filming date was unknown.

Cheers
