PRESS RELEASE: QUEEN + ROGER DALTREY LIVE!

Rock Legends Unite as Queen Guitarist Brian May is to “ROCK YOU” at the Collars & Coats Gala Ball, celebrating Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s 150th Anniversary
The entertainment glitterati for this season’s most eagerly anticipated, star-studded event, the Collars & Coats Gala Ball, is to soar to even greater heights with today’s announcement that legendary Queen guitarist, Brian May CBE is to perform alongside Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor and The Who’s iconic lead singer Roger Daltrey CBE, for the charity’s milestone event on 25 November at Battersea Power Station.
Hosted by actress and TV personality Amanda Holden and in the presence of HRH Prince Michael of Kent, GCVO, the Home’s President, the event promises to offer an unforgettable experience of musical entertainment. Brian May CBE, the defining sound of Queen, will join forces with Roger Taylor, Roger Daltrey CBE, and female lead vocalist of Meat Loaf Patti Russo, in Spike Edney’s All Star Band.
Tickets for the Collars & Coats Gala Ball can be purchased by calling 020 8476 8677 and visiting www.collarsandcoats.com.

The thrilling mix of entertainment will be heightened with even more performances, from chart-topping pop sensation and X Factor winner Alexandra Burke and Ryan Molloy of the critically acclaimed and Olivier Award winning musical The Jersey Boys. The fundraiser’s distinguished guests will also be treated to a stunning performance from the cast of one of the capital’s most successful musical shows – the surprise package on the night.
The Collars & Coats Gala Ball is Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s most prestigious fundraising event in this, its 150th anniversary year. The much loved animal welfare charity enjoys the support for its vital work from many of the nation’s top celebrities. Previous attendees have included Simon Cowell and Dame Judi Dench and the Gala Ball will again witness a whole host of A-list stars, lighting up the red carpet.
And joining them on the red carpet will be something very special indeed – a unique and memorable Battersea welcome of a Guard of Honour from 150 dogs and their handlers. Distinguished guests will then be treated to a champagne VIP reception and gourmet banquet, interspersed with the top billing entertainment line-up.
Revelers will also have the opportunity to bid in one of the most exclusive “money-can’t-buy” auctions, with an array of luxury prizes donated by Battersea’s valued supporters. The event will raise vital funds to ensure the charity continues to go from strength to strength, to help provide a second chance in life to the dogs and cats in its care, as it embarks on its next 150 years.

For further information on Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and to pledge donations or prizes, please visit www.battersea.org.uk.

I think this is awesome..What else is there to say? Don't think it'll lead to a new album, but it'd be interesting to hear the guys come up with something. Pete's "ENDLESS WIRE" was Endlessly boring... Maybe there'll be a "The Cosmos STILL Rocks" album forthcoming ;;;;;;) ;) ....

As for the performance... too bad it won't happen over here. But i'll youtube it of course.

It would be cool if they played some Who songs aswell.
Can you imagine Brian and Roger bringing Baba o Riley to life?

I can imagine Brian singing the 'dooooooooon't cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy' bits Pete usually sings.

Given the cost of "table packages" I very much doubt there'll be anything on youtube.  What are the chances of Roger Daltrey getting to put his stamp on Ogre Battle and Liar?  The poor fucker's going to be made to trot out We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You like everyone else does.

Who material - I'd wager on Behind Blue Eyes, Substitute and My Generation.

Hope they have a great night but, given how anti the X-Factor Roger, Brian and Roger Daltrey have been, it's funny to see that they are sharing a bill with one of the X-Factor winners.........

Wholly missable IMHO.

@benn

You say Roger and Brian are anti x factor but they played at last years one and appeared to enjoy themselves and allowed Queen songs to be used and they appeared on American Idol last year

scollins,

Wrong - Roger sang I Want It All brilliantly and its a shame that he only had the one track - would have prefered more of him and less of that fucking Lisa Stansfield.

>You say Roger and Brian are anti x factor but they played at last years
one and appeared to enjoy themselves and allowed Queen songs to be used
and they appeared on American Idol last year

Did you see their faces though and the absolute lack of interest they showedfor the whole thing.  QPL and EMI used Brian and Roger to get Queen material promoted through American Idol to a younger audience.  Have a read of any interview they have given - prior to the American Idol night - on the subject and they prove themselves to be hypocrites at every opportunity.

Why do you think C-lebrity was written?

Well, I think the chances are pretty high. Remember this is an audience without Queen fans. So the chances that they will actually play something that fans have been waiting for all their lives are pretty high. Like they played songs like Long Away, Sleeping on the Sidewalk, It's a Hard Life, Tenement Funster to audiences without Queenfans recently..

My guess is a medley of Liar, White Man, Prophet's Song and Dead on Time

"i mean come on he was pathetic at the freddie tribute concert"

Not that this is saying much (when you consider just how fucking terrible Axl Rose and most of the other singers were) but Daltrey was the best in show at that miserable gig.  He was the only person to give a performance with any frigging backbone - and in the original key, as well.

Whilst Daltrey's performance doesn't come across well on the DVD, on the night, in the flesh I can vouch that he actually sounded really good, and had real energy about his performance.

I think the prospect of him playing with Brian and Roger now (even thought his voice isn't what it used to be) is something to look forward to, and may see 'our guys' take on some of his attitude and more raw, less polished delivery.

My favourite bands are Queen and The Who, so I'm very happy for this collaboration!

I wonder if Brian and Roger actually played on Baba O'Riley and those other tracks, or if they just performed their own tracks and the rest was played by  the SAS band?

Queen+roger daltrey is ok, if they got him on lead vocals and called themselves "Queen" then i and many others would cry saying "its not Queen, its not Queen, its not Queen" all night and day rocking back and forth in the cornor of a small room,
i wish they'd get together with david bowie and release an album, not just one song! and they'd be "Queen+David Bowie"
oh my that would be the day

Same here - I'm really hoping to see/hear the tracks, and erally do hope that they all (Brian and Roger x2) on The Who tracks; I'm sure that Roger T and Brian wouldn't have missed out on that opportunity?

From the pics, we can see that there was a big screen at the back of the stage showing the on stage action, so hopefully (unlike Knebworth '86 depending on who you believe!), there will be at the very minimum a recording of that video and audio feed.

I would 'cry saying "its not Queen, its not Queen, its not Queen" all night and day rocking back and forth in the cornor of a small room' just as much with Queen+David Bowie. My problem with Brian & Roger using the name Queen, whether it be Queen+Roger Daltrey or Queen+Paul Rodgers or Queen+David Bowie, is that I don't consider Brian & Roger to be Queen. Brian & Roger along with John, yes, but not just 50% of the group.
