or something of the sort

http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Africa/Africa-Monitor/2010/1129/World-AIDS-Day-and-the-unbearable-lightness-of-like-Kim-Kardashian

http://www.thedailytell.com/2010/11/celebrities-to-die-digital-deaths-for-aids-charity/

first two that came up.

i dont know about you guys, but i feel there is so much wrong with this. maybe because kim kardashian is first on the list as a celebrity (i still dont know what shes famous for). but it seems to me anything these days is just a stupid idea to cause controversy in the name of 'charity'. just like the word celebrity, charity will be another laughable word with ideas like this (i think back to breast cancer awareness and the stupid 'handbag' placement as an example).
a cynic like me sees 'kim kardashian is shuttened up' my first thought it "great! one less useless celeb tweeting about themselves....what was the purpose of this again?"
it could possibly counteract.

but it also gives a big picture of popculture on what is really important to people. kinda sad.
i also feel this is a stupid egotistical way of holding fans ransom just so they HAVE to donate to bring these celebs back.

sadly those celebs come back, the true victims are not spoken for. i just feel Ms. Keys' point will be missed. i know she is trying to get a unique way to get people involved, but i cant help but feel like she is wrong in so many ways.

what do you think of this idea? good? bad? stupid? brilliant? discuss.

This is brilliant.  These celebrities realize that a fair number of people spend way too much of their lives online, so they're hitting people where it hurts.  Hopefully they'll get through to some people.  And as long as they stay true to their word, they'll have to.

i suggest everyone keeps their hands in their pockets so they dont reach $1m donations, that way they will never be able to "twat" online again.
however, their little helper that does the "tweeting" for them will be out of work just before xmas..

all they are doing is raising their own awareness.if they are that concerned then they could all donate $1m each and keep quiet about it but no they got to shout from the rooftops about it

Real progress will be made when some of these vapid folk are actually dead.

heh.....this is kinda what i thought would happen. people dont really miss these people, and again narcissism in the name of charity has proven tacky.

these vapid celebs (love that word, zeb) have money coming out of their arses, they could pay their own ways back if theyre jonesing for attention so bad.
