I know he did it at Rainbow 74 (Why I do not know and if anyone does, can they let me know? I know they were a bit out of tune at the end, was THAT why?) I know he did it at another concert due to being mad about the sound during the show, not sure which show. Other times? I know Moon The Loon (One of my all time favorite drummers) did it alot, but I never got what the big attraction was. PS Watch the video of when Roger does it in Rainbow 74, Either Brian or John rushes scared out of the way! its pretty funny!

I think it's been said that the band were aggravated by the cameramen and found that they interrupted their connection with the audience, so that may be a possible reason. It may just be because it was the last night of the tour, and Roger wanted to end with a bang!

I've watched this clip a couple of times and to me he looks pissed off. Especially at the start of his tantrum where after he finished playing he instantly launched into that kit. At the finish when the kit was trashed you can see how pissed he was when he knocked over his mic stand and stormed off. He did this again in Saarbrucken in 79.

Well its a damn sure good way of letting the crowd know the show is over! I wonder if Brian knows, anyone think to ask him? I've asked questions a few times and never gotten any indication of a reply. I know he's busy, but he always seems to answer the non music questions faster than anything....

Roger's probably got pissed off many times in the last 40+ years. What makes you think Brian (who's not precisely Dr Memory) remembers each one of them?
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Rog didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Wales is not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 vox.

I think he did it : -Rainbow 74 (caught on video) -2nd night at Earls Court (caught on video) -somewhere during 77 American Tour (don't remember the gig exactly) -Saarbrucken 79 (because of "hair accident") -Concert For Kampuchea(only bass drum with toms, caught on video) Some unknown show, according to Crystal memories. Some roadie moved the stool out when Roger was standing and hitting his cymbals-as a result, he fell down, so he destroyed the drumkit in anger. It's oblivious that Rog trashed his drumkits during "very important" shows, or when he was just pissed off...

I thought this was done more for effect than anything. Just for the drama.

I think it's 'cause he misses a cue, check it (a couple of seconds before the song ends). I'm a drummer, and I know that when something like that happens, it's "destroying the heck out of the drums" time :P

If Roger's drumkit was made of badgers, you'd have an answer the same day!

Musicians live in present time while fans usually live in the past. Ask yourself where you have been ....say this day 30 years ago. And if you do 100 shows a year you will not remember, what happened when and where. Unless it was a really special event.
