Hi!

I want to tell you my own opinion of 3 minutes from unknown German 1978 show footage which are among 13 minutes of Berlin 1979 footage. I haven't seen this footage, I've seen only screenshots and I think this footage is from concert in Berlin on April 28, 1978.

You'll ask: "Why I think so?" Let's think then. All we know that this footage can be only from NOTW 1978 Spring tour and there were four shows in Germany in April - May at that time. At first, we don't count Munich on May 3 as we have pro-shot footage of two songs and it doesn't match. Then, Hamburg on April 14 doesn't match too as Freddie's seen in different dress than in "unknown" footage (forgot to say, Freddie's in his black and white costume in footage).

What's left now? Dortmund on April 26 and Berlin on April 28. It seems that Freddie's in different dress in Dortmund than in "unknown" footage so it also doesn't match. Unfortunately, we don't have any pics from Berlin on April 28 but I'm 100% sure that it's from that show!

Let's think again! These 3 minutes of that unknown German 1978 show are together with Berlin 1979 footage so it means that "unknown" footage was filmed by the same person who filmed Berlin 1979. Interestingly enough, right? We may make a supposition that this person was living in Berlin (and maybe lives now) and attended two Queen shows in Berlin in 1978 and 1979, and filmed them both.

SO I SAY IT AGAIN - THE FOOTAGE IS FROM BERLIN ON APRIL 28, 1978.

You're probably right.  But until we have better pictures from Dortmund, we can't confirm.  It's really hard to see what Freddie is wearing in the Dortmund picture since it's so dark.  What outfit is he wearing?  The same one as Hamburg?  Have a look at the pics on my website again... I made them less red, so the colours are more correct now.

There's a guy on this topic claiming he attended the show and the Dortmund 78 recording is probably his. Maybe we could asked him what was Freddie's outfit this night (and maybe talking about his mastertape?).

It seems that Freddie is not in black and white outfit on Dortmund pic, it seems like he's in white outfit which he wasn't wearing at Spring of 1978, right? Maybe he's in black outfit like in Hamburg? Probably yes.

In the 8mm footage, Freddie has changed his outfit during the BoRhap opera section (not just adding the leather jacket like he did in Houston and Munich).  And the Dortmund pic could have been taken during We Are The Champions.  So at this point our research is inconclusive.
