In the early 80's, Freddie Mercury (the late lead singer of Queen) recorded 3 songs with Michael. Michael and Mercury were fairly good friends. According to Queen drummer Roger Taylor, it was Michael who suggested they release “Another one Bites the Dust” as a single. It was the band’s biggest hit in the U.S.

Anyway, Freddie stopped by Michael’s house to work on a few songs. They were “Victory”, “State of Shock” and “there must Be More to Life than This”. the demos were ran through a few times but sadly left unfinished as both men had their own tours/albums to work on. Ever since, fans of both have been wondering how the songs came out, if they’d ever get the chance to hear them.

A few years back, a box set of virtually every Mercury track recorded was released and fans had hoped the duets with Michael would be included. They were not. as yet, they have not been officially released anywhere in the world.

As some of you may know, “State of Shock” was released but with Mick Jaggar instead of Mercury. “…More to Life than This” ended up as a Freddie only track on his album “mr. bad Guy”.

In an interview with a Belgian magazine Roger Tayler says “We are now working on some never-before-released songs that Freddy made with Michael in the early 80's. I’m not allowed to say too much about it but they sound incredible!”.

Can't stand Michael Jackson.....It would be another black eye for the post Mercury era IMO.  Trying too take advantage of jackson's death and doing anything to get back on the charts........The only good thing of course is if the songs are hits it would gain Queen a lot of new fans......Which is a good thing,  but i still can't stand Michael Jackson.

I think this is good news and I would expect that this could be released as part of the bonus tracks for albums such as Hot Space and the Works.

Bugger that. They'd make a great single release and they might even form part of the "Forever Queen" album....
The band ARE in the studio at the moment recording....

Most interesting is the quote "I'm not allowed to say too much about it but they sound incredible!"

I mean - who can forbid him to talk about these things, if it's for a Queen-project ?
Things might be different when it's for a MJ-project and he is only the "hired drummer"....

The next Michael Jackson album will be a duets-album. Apparently Barry Gibb has also confirmed he's working on it. So I guess that whatever track Roger & Brian are involved with will be for that project - and ofcourse not a Queenproject.

not a queen project,  but freddie's song is still his song,   i guess you could say it's a michael Jackson + Queen song.  If the songs are successful Queen still get credit for it as much as michael.  Ok,  i have to admit i'm curious at what brian and roger added to those songs, and how they made michael's and freddie's voices blend together the way  the demo version didn't.   If only one reason why I hope these songs are released is to put mick jagger to shame.  Freddie will kick hiss versions ass.

Hmm, very interesting and intriguing information.
1. When are  they decided that time has come ,  for the rare stuff ?
2. On  what the album will appear previously unreleased songs?

1. Next Tuesday.
2. On their new album Duck Soup, due for release in Spring 2012.

what would Brian/Roger add to these tracks?
witha cynical sigh: i expect something typically formulaic

"State of shock" - Brian will add a very "Slash/Eddie V-H" type solo...Roger will just bang about a bit
"More to Life" - Brian will add a soaring "save me" type solo, and Roger will add some delicate cymbals

I think this is bad news. But anyway, since he said 'tracks' I think this means we'll hear Victory and There Must be more to life than this. I don't think we'll get State of Shock, at least I hope we wont since that's the worst of the two songs we've heard. The two voices don't match at all.

I don't know who are you but please leave Goodoldfashionedloverboy alone. Let him write by himself. I ask only one time, man. Then it'll be bad.

Lost man there's no wrong doing here, Goodolfashionedloverboy has just pressed return too many times, if it was
someone pretending to be him the posts would be more interesting than just posting the thing he posted before it a few seconds later. I’m pretty sure he’s a bit paranoid.

Back on topic, if this is true then there is a good chance that the tracks Freddie mercury thought were terrible may get him back on the radio. who said you can't get cash from kicking a dead horse?

Certainly no more reliable source for Queen-related information than a website like "johnjohnsaidit" quoting an unnamed Belgian magazine! Its practically a done deal, no doubt!

That's good, but this did appear in a Flemish magazine. http://knackfocus.rnews.be/nl/entertainment/muziek/queen/roger-taylor-f-ck-off-darling/article-1194964927801.htm Check out this article (with interview) in Dutch about 40 years of Queen. It's not fake. As much as I would love it to be false, they are working on the awful Jackson tracks. Or he's lying.

They'd better release Rainbow 1974.
