I think they have gone too far. They are now promoting on tv here in the US, a product called Fat Foam. It's some kind of shampoo. They play the song Fat Bottom Girls with bastardised words to Fat Foam Girls and refer to their product. I can't believe things would be so bad that they have to exploit and sell out on this song too. Of all the Queen numbers, I hoped this one by Brian would remained sacred and untouched, especially as some found it offensive. Guess someone needs money. Freddie hated commercial exploitation of their music. Glad he is resting peacefully and not here to see it.

It's Brian's song, he can do what he wants with it.

I've seen the commercial and cringed, but I do that with every song used in an ad. I don't really blame the artist, because they can name their price. If the company wants to use it, they'll pay. Brian doesn't need the money, but as the old saying goes, "there's no such thing as bad publicity."

No, I blame the ad agencies for not being able to come up with an original jingle or catchphrase or memorable character, and having to resort to rewriting other people's songs. It's lazy and unoriginal.

If you're going to claim a song is "sacred", maybe pick one that isn't called Fat Bottomed Girls....after all, it's not exactly Wittgenstein, is it?
