http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/europe/05/26/serbia.mladic/index.html?hpt=T1

After having been on the run for some 15 years, the mass-murderer (who was enough of a coward to have his subordinates take responsibility for his crimes) Ratko Mladic has finally been apprehended. Still a hero for islamophobes in Europe, Mladic has the dubious honor of being the worst war criminal in European history since the end of the second world war. His glorious accomplishments include ordering snipers in Sarajevo to specifically target civilians to instill terror in the population, personally ordering and witnessing brutal torture of caught enemy soldiers, personally ordering and overseeing the murder of 8000 men and boys in Srbrenica, as well as countless illegal orders, including the systematic murder of P.O.W.'s, during the Yugoslav civil war.

Mladic is to be handed over to the Yuguslavia Tribunal in The Hague. He was the last major war criminal of the Yugoslav civil war still at large. The coward is now finally to face justice, a word that has little meaning to him. No matter what his punishment will be, it is guaranteed to be more humane than any treatment he would have authorized for his enemies.

This man is a vision of what the European future will be if the islamophobe parties get in power.

Unlike the US war on terror, this one was actually real.  It is truly a great day for humanity.

I can't believe this topic only gets 2 replies, while Bin Laden's topic gets a lot of pages!

The reason is simple -

The US media is far more powerful than in Europe, and has a much deeper agenda in rallying people to be on their side while the politicians et all engage in their ways of Roman-like hegemony.  Therefore more people feel like they're connected to the issues the US faces, and end up believing that these issues are somehow more important than things elsewhere in the world.

Ok, maybe now this thread will get more busy..

Actually, I think the other thread was longer simply because discussion turned away from bin Laden's death and focused instead on the reactions to his death.

And there's yet another difference between the US and Europe - in Europe they don't take to the streets and celebrate someone's death.

Keep 'em coming :-)

I think the reason is that it was not so spectacular. A legal arrest, a legal extradition, a legal trial to follow. No helicopters in the night, nobody's head was blown away. Just a legal arrest and no war propaganda. The families of the victims did demonstrate in Den Hague but there was no cheering mob in the streets. Nothing to discuss, really :-)

There is lots to discuss. The trial is/will be televised. I watched it friday and it will start again the 4th of July.

And I fully agree with Bob here. Once again. Oh, Bob. I love that man!

Just looking at the thread title: doesn't this really make him the BEST European War Criminal since 1945?  Granted, that's not the kind of honour you want to be winning - it's like winning Eurovision - but all the same, he really was good at his job.  It's a pity he didn't go into a different profession.
