You are not the only one who was unimpressed by U2......

Not sure about the Queen influence tbh......

If you ask me, U2 exists on sheer arrogance alone. Bono would probably be insulted at the very suggestion that he could possible have been influenced by anyone. Let's not forget that he invented the concept of music all by himself...

Watched the song on Youtube: naah, no way it resembles Now I'm Here.

The Edge based his whole style on Live Killers' Brighton Rock...

Fuck U2, honestly.  Don't get me started on that maggot Bono, but I get annoyed when The Edge gets treated like Mr. Guitar Delay, when any member of this forum could name at least 1 (heh) guy who did it before him, and did it better.

Bono started clapping and said "everytime i clap, a child in africa dies". Someone from the crowd shouted "stop f'cking clapping then."

That was very funny. :P
Here, I'm Irish, and you'll find the majority of Irish people DESPISE U2, particularly Bono.

Actually, despite what I said about Edge I quite like them - they lack the musical finese of other bands I could mention but they´re good live and have a reasonable canon of songs and Bono at least holds Queen in high regard. When Queen  were inducted into the Hall of Fame he was at the front, on his feet and aplauding..

Honestly I don't understand the amount of flack U2 receives. Is it the length of their career? The hits?
Sure i can see Bono's charity/political activities can be too much, but as Bono has once stated even he's tired of Bono sometimes. But if you see how the place erupted at Glastonbury, you can't deny they're still an great live band, despite The Edge's limited abilities as a guitarist.

Some of U2's songs have really blown me away.  So amazing.  But I think as a live act, they may have been overexposed for years now.  It's the same with Beyonce, in my opinion.  It seems they are available for every occasion.

Didn't U2 cover WWRY during their shows sometime around 1987~1989? I swear I have a copy of one such performance from some audience recording in my covers collection somewhere...

U2 have released a lot of mediocre to poor albums. They have also rleased one of the best and one of the worst I;ve heard in Zooropa and Pop. And if you can't figure out which is which, your ears must be painted on :)
