Apologies if this has already been asked and answered, but does anyone know when the second set of remasters are supposed to be released in the United States??

It took 'em until May 17th to release the first set, so I'm guessing we'll be waiting a while for the next batch, eh?

It doesn't look like North America (I'm in Canada, by the way) will get a domestic release of the Deep Cuts CDs or Greatest Hits 1 2011 Remaster. I had to order DC1 from the UK and am still having trouble getting GH1, so I'll probably end up getting it through Amazon.ca.

I'm normally all for selection, but precluding releases at the distributor level is where Hollywood Records has dropped the ball if the reason we don't get these CDs is because of HR's multiple Hits collections. What's a few more at this point? Better still, take this opportunity to pare down a few of those older collections.

The first batch releases are on my  internet jukebox at the pub... (disc 1 and disc 2)....

I've  seen a box set special on Amazon.

However, the extras are threadbare and i'm not really interested in RE-buying anything except possibly the game...or Jazz (best "extras")...

Has the contract with Hollywood expired already over here?

Yup. I'm Canadian too, and I went to HMV last week and asked if he had Deep Cuts Volume 1, and he said he'd never heard of the album in his life, and he was the manager of the store.

That's nothing...most of the HMV managers in Britain don't know what it is either.....it's because they're useless mofos :)

I went to a independent record store, and saw the first wave of all the remasters AND Deep Cuts 1...and I live in Southern California by the way. Hence, I've been to Best Buy, where they don't have ANY of the remasters at all, nor any of the old stuff from HR either. Kinda confused by what the hell is going on with all that. I would say for those that live out here in the US, try the independent stores...that's really the way to go.

The first wave I actually saw at my local Wal-Mart, believe it or not. We'll see what happens with wave #2.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

I'm wondering if they'll do another USA 'box set' for the next 5 remasters.  That was kind of cool.

I ordered Deep Cuts 1 through Sunrise Records, as HMV only has the 1st batch of studio album remasters and Greatest Hits II. Sunrise had the UK imports of the first batch (except GH1) on their shelves only a week or two after the UK release. It was cheaper to wait for the domestic release, but it was nice to know they were picking up the slack. These were the two flagship stores of their respective chains, located literally across Yonge Street from each other. And where once HMV could be trusted to meet all your import and rarity needs, they've gradually homogenized to almost-strictly Top 40. "It's not in our system" is a fairly common phrase nowadays.

I don't know if every Sunrise store is as useful, but the two or three I happen by regularly are on the the ball. The downtown Sunrise also has the US "Keep Yourself Alive" commemorative 7" single. I was in there the other day and there were still a few on the shelf, if anyone is looking for them.
