Please check my own submission (Version 1) for the Talenthouse competition:
http://www.talenthouse.com/creativeinvites/preview/a7646bd645bdce020a9495670c1058a0/224

This is my attempt for a video set to the music of Queen's 1977 song Sheer Heart Attack. I have created visuals using imagery from the artworks of  their albums SHEER HEART ATTACK and NEWS OF THE WORLD. I also used Queen footage from a Super8 film reel I acquired a long time ago, containing excerpts from a 1977 concert. There are also a couple of clips from Queen's recent documentary DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

Hope you all like it!

Let's support Wilki and please vote for him.

His video is a masterpiece and way better than the big part of the DoRo clips.

Congrats!

Fantastic job, Wilki! I voted for you already! It's clear that you devoted a lot of love and time to the project, so that is why it came out as real rocker!

Cheers,

Well muchos excellente perfecto mundo el video !

I love it ! I'm going to give you my vote...though I have some questions:

- What 8mm video footage did you all use ? I recognise the footage but cannot say which is from what show...

- The bloody razorblade on the SHA album cover : was this the razor which gave Fred the virus ... (just kidding)

One remark though...the video is in great uptempo like the song.... the whole effect dissapears when the first chorus comes in : you are too much zooming in and out on the album cover ....

Great work...

Thanks for your kind words and your advices. These are really welcome.

Should I make it into the second round, I plan to re-edit the clip using more original footage, so the SHEER HEART ATTACK album cover would be included just a couple of seconds.

The Super8 footage is from Los Angeles 1977.

I belive the super8 footage isn´t from Los Angeles but from Inglewood!
Qué metodo usaste para digitalizar el super8?? "frame by frame" ó "Film scanning" ??

Of course, the Forum is located in Inglewood, Los Angeles county (I said Los Angeles, because it's a more familiar name).

I performed the digital telecine using the frame-by-frame scanning method.

I don't like it. Sorry. Very annoying to watch all the things like the 'It was the DNA' text and the 'Between your ears' fragment. Very corny to literally point out a songtext.

I agree! If I make it into the second round, I plan to re-cut it using less of the "It was the D.N.A." footage. I have several scenes still to be filmed and included in the film. Thanks for your words!

The Frame By Frame Metod is a good metod! (not the best of course but excellent for a "home made" super 8 mm)
The version wich was shared here a time ago is your transfer? i think if you could send me your e-mail we´ll can talk better...

Cheers!

Not bad!

Personally, it didn't quite capture the essence of the song. But I like your approach!

Thanks! I must admit that it was a rush project: from concept to final edit in just a couple of part-time days. I have a lot of ideas I had to discard due to lack of time or adequate lighting, props, etc. but I plan to improve the second version a lot. The approach will be pretty much the same, though.

I bet it was a lot of fun editing this.

Pro's:
- Old video filter, scratches and such. Love those to indicate it being old stuff
- Effort. as a graphic designer I know how much time and work can go into a project like this.

Con's
- The pace. I see you trying but a lot of the power and speed of the song do not translate to the visuals.

Ideas
- Get in the car. Find a dirt road. Open the door. Film some shots hovering a couple of inches from the ground.
This will give you very speedy, powerfull footage.
- Go to your local bar or club. Ask the DJ to play the song and walk around with a camera.
- Use footage of the current UK riots Fits the lyrics like a charm.
