Hi folks i wonderd when this version of the song was first performed, how it came about.I also thought which live version you prefered and why no studio version on NOTW.Thanks.

It was first performed in Portland on November 11, 1977. It didn't turn up on NOTW for some reason, but you can hear a version from BBC session recorded in October 1977.

and the bbc version does sound overdubbed...which suggests - as was the way with most of their bbc sessions - they recorded a backing tape to "play along to"....
this being the case, you would suspect a multitrack exists...so why was it not included on NOTW on the bonus disc?
