Why the track list seems interesting, just another compilation. Is it a offical release?

Surely one of the most dubious releases.

Quite surprisingly the album art does not use the Comic Sans font! Would have worked perfectly!

It was a quick cash-in to take advantage of Queen's appearance on "American Idol," nothing more.

What I find the most embarrasing of this release is that the cover has "A.I." written in bold font. Obviously they can't put the American Idol logo but... "A.I. ... wink wink geddit??". LAME.

I bought it.

It was my choice and there's nothing to feel sorry for. I wanted the edits of the live tracks (I'm a collector of different versions, edits, remixes, etc.). I hate to break it to you, but there's nothing morally superior about *not* buying releases you're not interested in, whether you think QPL or HR are just trying to shake us down or because there's just nothing on there you want or need. The "Look at how great I am because I didn't buy this stupid release and anyone who did is pathetic" attitude rings of wanton ignorance because you're either ignoring the fact or are unaware that Hits collections are not aimed at seasoned fans.

Hits collections serve one purpose: give casual and new fans a cross-section of the band's work. Yes, there are many issued by Hollywood Records, and that's not a bad thing. You'll notice that these things vary in price. Stone Cold Classics is a cheapo release and someone might be more willing to buy over a pricier Greatest Hits 1 or Classic Queen. When that happens, SCC has achieved its goal. If that person buys some albums, even better! That's Hollywood Records' job, to promote the band and sell its material anyway it can. If that means riding the coattails of American or Canadian Idol, so what? If new fans are exposed to their work, the world is a better place.
