Hello!
Now i have a question about the recording of the Queen gig at this venue.
I think a lot of fans underrated this concert. But in my opinion is fantastic! Only the final mix of the sound ruined the experience, but QP could fix that.
The band was in great form and Freddie sang so well, and the crowd was very loud (Love of my Life, Absolute Perfect!:) And, as a plus, this was the only filmed gig of the Works Tour (Rio was a festival)

Well, my question is, someone know how was recorded the gig?? The quality of the tapes...etc
Because the picture quality is great, in my opinion is much better than the crappy quality of Wembley and Milton Kaynes, could be 2'' tapes like Rainbow or Earl's Court, or Super 16 mm like Hammy 75. In that case we could see a Bluray of the gig someday!
Or maybe 35mm film, like Montreal and Budapest, i dunno, but who knows..
Can someone anwser this??

I can't really answer your question ... wish I could.

But what I do know is the only concerts that were properly filmed were Rainbow 74 (Nov) x2, Montreal 81 x2, and Budapest.  Just five shows.

Only five shows, turned into four, because Saul Swimmer destroyed the film that he not used for the We Will Rock You release, after mixed the two nights. Thanks bastard!

But the Yoyogi concert is still a mystery for me, i searched in the web and i can't find the info that i want. I read that someone convinced Freddie to do the Magic Tour, so at that point, maybe he imagined that those shows in Japan could be the last for him, and he wanted to film one properly, who knows.

No one knows nothing about this...?

That would call into question whether or not Freddie knew he had AIDS as early as 1985.  We know he knew in '86, but anything earlier would be an interesting topic for discussion..

I do know the quality of the  Japanese camera's and recording techniques were ahead of European techniques and that explains the great quality of the film. ( not to speak about the Brazilian quality)

Thanks for your answers guys!
Its hard to know those things because Japan is a very far country, with another alphabet, so i not easy the leaks about the gig (like in Europe or America)

I hope someday we'll see a proper release of the gig (Blu-ray??)and the history behind it. But only if QP didn't lose the master tape (Like Tokyo 82)

I think that the band was in quite bad mood at this point of their carreer and I really don't think the Magic Tour was in any member mind at this moment. Everyone of them might have certainly thought that it would their last shows, not because of Freddie's health but because the machine was not working anymore.

That makes a lot of sense.  I will forever state that if Live Aid had not happened, Queen would have broken up in 1985.  They were going through the motions that year on stage.  That 17-minute set single-handedly revitalized the band.

He almost certainly knew before then.  There are so many signs of it.

Read 6-7-86, 6-28-86 and 7-27-86 on my website for the various clues.

Sounds like he had an idea about his health (even if he wasn't tested)!

We'll never know when he was tested. Anyway, with all his friends dying of AIDS one after another, he certainly felt he was probablyinfected with HIV as soon as 1983 or 1984, even without being tested.

This is slightly off topic but I think he was infected during his period in Munich or New York. Only a guess of course

There's for sure that he told Queen manager in 1987 thath he have HIV and asked not to tell the band.
Wasn't it said in recent Doc  ?
