I ordered Freddie Mercury's "The Great Pretender" CD from a seller on Amazon, and it was listed as the version with the extra Track 12, "Living On My Own [Techno Remix]." But when I received it, it was the 11-track version. I hadn't paid much, so I then tried to order the CD from Walmart.com, which also listed the album as the 12-track version. Again, it was the version with 11 tracks!!!

What gives? I thought all Hollywood Record pressings of "The Great Pretender" by Hollywood Records (which these two CDs claim to be) in the USA included the bonus track.

I'm frustrated because the bonus track was on the copy of the CD I owned in the '90s and it was my favorite version of the song.

This doesn't really help you with getting screwed with the wrong edition of the CD (and that sucks, by the way! I'd be pissed!), but there are 4 different editions of The Great Pretender:

01) 1992 Edition with 11 tracks.

02) 1993 Edition with 11 tracks, but with the "Living On My Own" Radio Mix (the version by No More Brothers which hit #1) instead of the 1992 Remix. The booklet still lists it as the 1992 Remix.

03) Post-1993 Edition with the 1992 Remix of "Living On My Own" re-instated and the Techno Mix unlisted as track 12.

04) Post-3rd Edition with the Techno Mix listed (and retaining the 1992 Remix).

I have the 2nd Edition, with the Radio Mix, which caused me a lot of confusion before I figured out they swapped the two mixes on this edition only. The Boxed Set has the first edition, which clarified things a lot.
