From mobile:

Queen's "late" Freddie Mercury was quoted in the acceptance speech on a yet to be broadcast ceremony held April 15th

The quote is the 2nd verse of WATC
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5c9BpEmU7g&sns=fb

Long time whiner and sociopath Axl Rose witheld his own appearance and sat at home presumably punching a wall.

I admire him calling off shows when dumbasses would attend and throw $#!+ onstage... But this was obviously a sign of enmity

Either way, Freddie was quoted. That's great. Looking forward to the real pro audio + visual broadcast

Yes, for the countless year of devotion to music and his indelible contributions to the lasting permanence of great art, literature, poetry prose and performance.
The man is a force to be unquestioned. Nothing banal like these talent show karaoke singer hacks.

The man is the real thing.

He will be retained among the greats: 5ive, Robbie WillisoldintheUKwhilethegimmickwasgood and Britney Spears.

....Unparalleled supreme TALENT.

GOD BLESS ADAM LAMBERT'S INCREDIBLENESSNESSNESSEDNESS!

What a jerk Axl is for not participating in this honor. He can't put aside his differences with his former bandmates to accept his acceptance! He should feel proud to be inducted in the Rock and ROll Hall of Fame where many band and performers before him haven't even gotten in yet! KISS, Cheap Trick, RUSH... is Aerosmith in there yet? Hey Axl, I bought all your music the days that they were released and supported your band, and probably drug habits with that money, during those years and now you slap us in the face with your behavior? YOU SUCK! And so did Chinese Democracy!!!

Myles Kennedy is curently doing a great job singing for Slash. When he wants he can sound a little like Axl and so when Slash does G&R songs at his live shows, they are crowd pleasers. He also has a very soulful voice too e.g on "Back From Cali"

As for Axl, I think he has serious emotional and personality problems. More to be pitied than abused.

Nah, "obsess much" is a response feeling that you may be stretching it A LOT.

I don't think the sarcasm was lost on anybody who's a regular english speaker

..It may get lost in translation.

They were inducted the same year as Queen, and so was Michael Jackson.

Axl basically gave the finger to the whole idea of a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What's more Rock and Roll than that?

Even though he's a nutjob supreme, I respect him for it.

I found it really sad to see Steven Adler up there - high as a kite and taking shots from his replacement (how do you get kicked out of GnR for doing too much drugs?).

Worst of all though was the induction speech by Green Day. It was extremely amaturish - more like a second-rate wedding speech than a hall of fame induction. Chris Rock followed with what an induction speech SHOULD be when he introduced RHCP.

You've triggered a nice memory. :) I had a friend in Grade 13 Economics class who went on to be a professional comic and LA actor who used to do just that "How do you get kicked out of GnR for..." in his early stand up.  Our overarching shared goal in Economics as we sat across from one another was not to learn anything about economics, but to make the other one laugh to the point of causing them to get in mortal shit with our teacher.  Good times.

Thought of this thread in the first place when I read this just now:

http://arts.nationalpost.com/2012/05/06/scenes-from-a-life-slash-on-guns-n-roses-the-breakup-and-getting-sober/

Seems to still respect Axl's talent and contributions, despite all the nonsense.
