Up for debate.

What is the best quality or most important Fan recoding in Video format of Queen live?

Quality wise I would think of the High Def copy of Sydney 1985. Some quality Amateur camera work there, and the full concert, minus some short cuts. Overall a good performance.

The most importance piece would be in my opinion St.Paul 1980, very rare and raw footage, including the only full version of Mustafa.

Opinions?

If you include post Freddie, the HD stuff of Q&PR in Worcester had great quality audio and video from the few tracks (including the rare Take Love, and seldom performed Dragon Attack including drum solo), that I've seen.

Does ANYONE have a way to contact the guy who shot the Worcester 2006 video, by any chance?? It's been 6 years already, I think he ought to stop hoarding the video to himself and maybe open himself up for negotiations to release the video, but that's just my opinion.

It's his video, so he can do what he wants. I don't think "hoarding" is a fair term to use when it's something he filmed. It's a term with negative connotation that generally refers to people who plan to hold back things forever that they didn't tape.

As for the original question - hands down, it's the San Francisco 77 footage. Just two 8mm reels of footage were shot, but it is absolutely spectacular. Shot from the first row.

Sydney 85 may be pretty good quality and a nearly complete show, but it was 1985. Queen were far past their peak and their show had become stale. The energy and spontaneity of their 70s shows was long gone. So this document, good as it is quality-wise, really isn't a greatly important document of the band in the grand scheme of things.

So I'd say Uniondale 77 and San Francisco 77 are the best ones. St Paul 80 is quite good as well - the only footage of the band playing Mustapha.

There should be a complete soundboard recording, as evident by the fact "It's In Every One Of Us" leaked online a few years in good quality.

Good point there, nice quality, but It was Queen in their pop phase.

Knebworth 86. Glad someone in the audience had the balls to film this gig.
Yes. I know. Magic tour, lots of pro shots from that tour available, not Queen's best live era etc. etc.
Still, I think it's the most important fan shot video out there. Queen's last show. The band did not film it (they say).

Runner up: St. Paul 80. Great quality footage. Mustapha! Relatively long video. Great shots. Stable.

I also like New York 75. Yes, it's short and in B&W. But it's very early Queen footage. Great.

Thanks for this post. I was going to ask the very same question myself.

Are any of these recordings available on this site for download?

Also, what is quality of the Cross/Smile gig?

I have an extremely limited download limit. I'd love to download one of these recordings, based on your advice on quality and likelihood the whole recording is seeded.

I'm a massive fan. I went Knebworth (my 1st ever gig), I was a fan club member for decades, made it to the Cross/Smile gig and bought almost every official release I could get my hands on...up to Made in Heaven.

I was at Brian's Brixton gig. I spent years looking for a DVD of the show. Someone on this website very generously mailed me a copy of the show, because it's no longer available for purchase. I still have the t-shirt from the gig too :)

I saw Brian play Adelaide when I first moved to Aus. I'd love another solo tour. Wouldn't it be great if The Cross did a one off tour.

I've gone off track, rambling on :)

cheers, and thx in advance for your advice on downloads,
Andy

I'm a long time queen fan from back in the late 70's.

Favourite albums are Queen II and Blue Rock.

Cheers to everyone from Melbourne.

I think if someone had video of the Freddie and Cliff Richard thing in '88, they could probably get a blowjob or two in exchange for sharing it.

(Checks if he's dead)

Are you propositioning Cliff Richard here???

Dunno him, but if I judged solely on looks, he might take you up on that offer.

Wrong forum though. That'd be sharing the music/head

Or maybe more appropriate for a "Personal ad"

"Come tonight! Come to the Overbite! Come See Freddie rock Toniiiiight!"
