Tonight in Kiev, Ukraine, Adam Lambert joined legendary rock band Queen for a performance to support the fight against AIDS. The concert was organized by the ANTIAIDS Foundation, with the assistance of UEFA. In keeping with his promise to not mimic Freddie Mercury, Adam sang as himself and did a fantastic job! He proved that Queen lives on strong, despite the loss of their former front-man. Adam’s performance was remarkable, especially since he had a lot of songs to learn in a short amount of time. While rehearsing with Queen, Adam has also been busy promoting his own album, Trespassing.
The show tonight lasted more than two hours and included a set list of more than 20 songs. Freddie Mercury was also there in spirit, as his image was projected on a screen behind the band and he “sang” part of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Elton John also performed at this anti-AIDS charitable concert, which took place before the Euro 2012 European Football Championship final. Hundreds of thousands of people attended the show on Independence Square and fans around the world watched as it was broadcast live online.
Adam joins Queen for five more concerts next month, including:
July 3: Moscow Olympic Arena, Moscow, Russia.
July 7: Municipal Stadium, Wroclaw, Poland
July 11, 12 and 14: HMV Hammersmith Apollo, London, UK
