QUEEN EXTRAVAGANZA
Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton, AB, Canada // 2012-07-03

Recorded on location by inu-liger (somewhere middle of Row Y - equivalent to 25th row - Floor Section Center)

Lineage: Live sound output > Edirol R-09 (PCM @ 48/24 - internal mic-in) w/ a CoreMicro 32GB SDHC Class 10 Memory Card > PC via USB > GoldWave (editing out pre-concert/post-concert bits, track-splitting) > WAV > foobar2000 w/ flac.exe > Batch downconversion to 44.1/16 > FLAC Level 8

Quality: EX-

Taper's Notes: Most unfortunately, thanks to the wonderful bank holiday that is Canada Day which loves to wreak havoc on the postal system, the SP-BMC-3 microphone set I was HOPING would arrive well in time for the show did unfortunately in fact NOT arrive on time...In fact as it turns out, in an ironic twist, it had just cleared Canadian customs minutes before the show started!
So I had to improvise a slightly crude setup using just the Edirol recorder, vertically positioned in a chest pocket with just enough padding inserted to keep it from falling all the way inside. Although the quality still turned out good and is still quite enjoyable, it's not as clear as my recordings normally would turn out as per my usual standards, so I do apologize!

Was wondering when you would post here.
I'm downloading from Dime. Thanks for the show.

Pity your mics didn't arrive in time.

@ NoOneButMe: There will be a recording from the Detroit coming up later this week, I just received the masters not long ago and will be working on that when I have a chance.

Also apparently going by a post on the QOL board there is also a recording from the Calgary show. Will attempt to see if I can get a hold of it as well.

I was there. I also saw the Q AL concert on youtube the same day. Just the professionalism of Marc Martel and Jeff Scott Soto showed what a true amateur Adam Lambert is. There was no, "who wants to shke their fat asses" over and over again in that screech. So Queen show literally take Jeff scott Soto or the rocking songs and Martel could do the rest.

Why does this torrent not allow DHT or Peer Exchange? It is relying solely on the Queezone tracker, which given how unreliable it is is an extremely bad idea.

I see this was recorded in 48/24. Why not upload that as FLACs instead of converting it to 44.1/16? I'd far rather have the original bit depth and sample rate, not something that's been converted.

@ OwenSmith: The reason is that not everyone automatically knows how to downsample xx/24 to 44.1/16
Also, some people unfortunately to this day also have issues playing 24-bit audio on some systems (usually of the older type) that can only process 16-bit audio

It's a very common practice with bootlegs, mate

Why would I want to downsample it? I'd just play the 48/24 direct on my Squeezebox, it's a native format it supports. I could also play it on my Oppo 95 blu ray player over DLNA, again 48/24 is supported natively.

EDIT: If you know you're going to distribute as 44.1 then why not record in it? I can see recording 24 bit and then reducing to 16 bit later to have less to worry about with recording levels, but surely you should be recording in the sample rate you intend to distribute at to avoid a sample rate conversion?

I'm not going to get into an argument with you over this. I'll refer The Great Wizard to take over here...

I'm looking for an explanation not an argument. For example, will the equipment you have not record in 44.1? If it won't but you believe in distributing in 44.1 then that would be a reason for doing what you've done. Not a reason I'd particularly agree with, but a reason nontheless.

How much more explanation do I have to give you?? Seriously dude, MOST people that download bootlegs want to be able to burn them to CD right off the bat, and not everyone has the capacity to deal with altering the samplerate. Basically in other words, it's more out of convenience for the general average users out there!

I didn't realise there are a significant number of people that burn them to CDs. Everyone I know (literally everyone) either plays them on something like the Squeezebox or on portable media players. CD has completely died in my circle of friends and acquantainces.
