I'm curious as to what you all this is the best live recording of this song? A friend and I were debating this one.

I'd say Houston 77. Freddie sings it closer to the album, and the entire song, before crowds started singing along.

Have to agree with Houston 77, Freddie's voice has such a purity about it and it's just a beautiful rendition.

I love this song and almost all its live versions, but my personal favourite is the Rio version. There is simply something amazing about 150 000 voices singing the same song together. Or about 150 000 voices shouting Brian's name, after which he almost started to cry :-)

Please will you direct me in the right way?

The Rio version still stuns me.

At a Queen related show, then for me its Extreme's version at the Freddie Tribute show. Otherwise its the Rio show.

Thanks all for the input. I've watched them all and Rio, Houston, Montreal and in that order. My friend would say exact opposite :-)

I love the Rio performance. Also like Houston, and Montreal. My father was at the two Rock in Rio shows and the 1981 gigs in Sao Paulo, I'm very jealous of him :P

I love each live version of this song. It's really hard to choose.

Hard to pick a favorite since there was something special about many of them. For just singing, Houston 77 (except I like the "Oooh yeah" at the end of the Wembley better). Rio for the audience singalong. Montreal for that young woman at the end looking at Freddie with such adoration. Also love this version from Q+PR 2005 with Brian singing with an empty stool next to him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1ydSXHsc9Y

São Paulo 81 (which is also the superman concert). Rio might have had more people singing, but SP is much better.
