So, yeah, I decided to kill some time and mess around with this demo. I pulled the 2 audio tracks off David Fuller's YouTube post (the demo with vocals & drums, and the bit with Brian layering guitar tracks). Having those to pieces to work with, I cut, re-arranged and tried to build something more dynamic. I don't know what the band's vision of the song was, given they didn't finish it, so I felt free to play around. All the music comes from the "Face It Alone" tracks, there are no samples from other Queen songs (or anyone else). The only other element I added was wind at the beginning, from my sound effects library.
Enjoy!

The mix seems fine to me, but I've always hated this track. It's one of the most depressing dirges I've ever heard, and I'm glad it never made it to an album.

Thanks for the upload, though. :)

I agree, the song is quite depressing but I like it and if it was finished it would be even better :-) I would replace My Baby Does Me with this song lol.

Ah... I'll give you that one, Piotre - lol! Maybe if it had been completed, it would have been better, but the whole band sounds like they're about to slash their wrists in the demo - perhaps it was just boredom?

They didn't really abandon the dark tone, even though this potential-song got left by the wayside. The entire album Innuendo has a dark edge (except "Delilah"), which probably came from the situation of their lives at the time. Freddie was sick, Brian was depressed and I'm sure John and Roger were affected by what was going on, too.

The fact that they kept working on the song over both album sessions might say a lot about what was subconsciously going on with them, but they did seem to pull back from any utter bleakness, as The Miracle is a fairly light, airy album (on the whole) and Innuendo, though dark at times, retains a good deal of hope and optimism.
