I don't think this one has been molested too much 'round here lately. I don't know.

Here's my take on this one. I was thinking a real kind of trashy, punk rock and roll take on this already rocking song. I took some liberties. I don't know anymore 'cos I've been tweaking it for days.

Hope you enjoy it.

Laugh at the intro, hate it, whatever. I'm still on the fence. Edit it out. Whatever. I'm done with this one.

Well that was fast. So strange how some files get tagged. Anyway, I made some more revisions. It's quite noisy and bottom heavy.

I was scared a bit when those distorted things came in lol!!! but i think it was not that bad, quite original trashy/punk track but you should correct the vocals as they sound too loud or too silent in certain spots. Maybe the whole song with those dostorted (but with caution! ;-)) things would be a nice idea.

Yeah, it's not bad, for a song that's not all that easy to do much with. I've experimented with the stems myself, and not come up with anything worth keeping.

One comment I'd make, in addition to those above, is that the drums sound rather 'dry' - was that intentional as part of the mix? I like to hear Roger's 'tssht' high hat with the snare, and the room drums are there with the stems, but what I did just sounded a mess.

Anyway, thanks for trying, and uploading. If nothing else, it reminded me that the intro is from White Man (or, vice versa) - nice idea there. :)

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I left the vocals a little buried in the intro I guess 'cos I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. The rest of the song... eh, could be a little loud I suppose. Maybe I'll see if I can balance it out better.

The drums are dry. I thought about adding some verb to the snare but generally I prefer dry sounds on everything. I blended a sampled snare hit with the original one and that really gave it some pop. I wanted the kick drum to really have a lot of punch so I jacked that up. This mix, to me, is all about feeling that kick drum.

Sometimes it's more effective to add EQ (low bass) to the kick drum, rather than just volume. That gives it more of a "thump", but you have to be careful, otherwise it's overpowering. My advice would be to try to blend the room drums with the snare overdub, to get a more natural sound. You can still 'dry' it with Noise Gate (which can take some experimenting with). Just a thought... :)
