Queen
Leiden, Netherlands
Groenoordhallen
November 27, 1980

Here's a fix of the best transfer of the Leiden LP material. About 2/3 of the show is present here. An uncut copy of this source exists as well as an alternate source, but both are far inferior to this.

With GoldWave I relocated the tracks to appear in their proper running order, and sped up the tape bit. Some of the edits aren't smooth, but I didn't want to do cross-fades when tape is missing to begin with.

Originally transferred at 24/96, it was carefully dithered down to 16/44.

This is a vinyl rip of the vinyl picture disc bootleg 'Recorded live At The Groenoordhallen ... 1980'. Although the bootleg doesn’t have a real title, the cover (which isn't more than a full color A4 paper wrapped around the LP) tittles it: 'Recorded Live At The Groenoordhallen Leiden The Netherlands On November 27, 1980'

This is the very same audience source that was used on countless vinyl boots from this concert. The ones entitled: 'We Will Entertain You' and 'Gamemania' were shared on Queen Zone before, but these are from a different press. All of these normal vinyl bootlegs have the same matrix number: RR-069 C, while the picture disc version has the matrix number: LP Q 1 A/B.

I think this one sounds a bit better than the ones shared before, so this would be a little upgrade (but don't expect a miracle!).

All operations are done in high resolution 24bit/96kHz and what you get is basically an exact copy from the lp. I only boost the sound with 6dB (absolutely no clipping and/or compression), and faded out the silent parts. The lp has a very noisy groove, but you won't notice a thing this way.

Artwork is included, have fun!

Had much fun listening to this one. Before having this version I never really listened to the show but now I did and it was lovely. All Leiden concerts are awesome to hear. Freddie is not as strong here as later in the tour but his overall shape in this period was just very very good and the rest of the band sounds great as usual (even if they're more on fire later in the tour, but I rank those shows among their very best).

Thanks to The Real Wizard for sharing this, and tcc for the torrent. The amount of information you share in your uploads is really one of the reasons i download bootleg concerts. I usually- or very rarely - listen to a concert after i download it, so after some time when i open the txt file is really a treat to read all the information about the bootleg and the concert. And i really like your style of not just giving the numbers that any program can layer down for you, but you share also your thoughts about the process that you went through until the final product. It makes this Announce section seem more human oriented when compared to other sites.

Thanks again for the hard work you put in your projects to achieve the best version of a concert possible, and thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks man - I appreciate you pointing all that out.

It's actually from watching people at places like Dimeadozen, The Traders' Den, Royal Orleans, Yeeshkul and Zappateers that I came to see how so many collectors cared about old recordings and presenting them in the best way possible.

Indeed, there are places where you only get a date and a city with an mp3 download link, but don't despair - there are a ton of people who care about this stuff and put in the time and effort. Most Zeppelin recordings from 1969 are from the master tapes, or first or second gens - and the inferior versions have all been weeded out. I can only imagine the effort those guys have gone through to track all those tapes and tapers down.

And when a new transfer of a first gen of a Mike Millard master pops up, and it's even a slightest quality upgrade, thousands of people will declare Christmas in July.

Thank you!

I'm not used to do requests but would you share the uncut inferior source?

All I have from this show are the different LP releases and a strange complete compilation of this show, with quality varying greatly from one song to another.

Thanks by advance.
