I'm making a mix cd of Roger solo songs for a friend of mine who's also a Queen fan. She's not heard much if any of Roger's solo work. Any suggestions on which songs I should include? Keep in mind I have all but Electric Fire of his stuff and only Mad Bad and Dangerous to Know.
Thanks in advance! :)

Anyone notice how Roger references other songs with his titles?

"Pressure On" &
"People On Streets" for example...

compare to this line from "Under Pressure":

"Pressure on people, people on streets"

:-)

Be sure to add "Touch The Sky" from the "Hapiness?" album, great song.

And yes, same advice as some others: GET "ELECTRIC FIRE"!!!!!!!!

You've never seen nothing like it, no never in your life. Like going up to heaven and then coming back alive.

DO include "Old Friends"!! I think it's one of the best things Rog ever wrote besides "Drowse".

Fun in Space is good especially Let's Get Crazy and Magic is Loose, but do I really want to hear a roadie's bodily functions in Interlude in Constantinople? Strange Frontier is far better.

Interlude in Constantinople is great too IMO - the drums are f*cking FAB! When I didn't have any shows of the EF99 tour and I read on sites about a "Interlude In Constantinople" as the intro tape, I always imagined the drums of IIC going into WWRY. Too bad the EF99 intro was just some soundfx :-(

I would agree with PimD FiS is the pinnacle of Rog's solo output.

Strange Frontier tails off after Killing Time. Happiness would have made a great EP. Electric Fire was a return to form. For a Roger solo compilation I would choose

I Wanna Testify
Turn On The TV
Future Management
My Country I & II
Magic Is Loose
Fun In Space
Strange Frontier
Beautiful Dreams
Man On Fire
Killing Time
Nazis 1994 (uncensored)
Foreign Sand
Dear Mr. Murdoch - although in the wake of B&R's shameless Musical Promotion in Der Sun, this is included for sheer comedic value.
Old Friends
Believe In Yourself
No More Fun
London Town-C'mon Down

keeping the tradition of 17 tracks for a Queen compilation going

My compilation of 17 tracks would be:

1) I Wanna Testify
2) No Violins
3) Magic Is Loose
4) My Country (Single Edit)
5) Good Times Are Now
6) Man On Fire
7) Strange Frontier
8) Killing Time
9) Happiness
10) Revelations
11) Foreign Sand
12) Dear Mr Murdoch
13) Final Destination (RT Version)
14) Pressure On
15) Surrender
16) Working Class Hero
17) One Night Stand (Bonustrack)

I'm probably the only one who likes One Night Stand though :-)

12 Pressure On
13 Nation of Haircuts
