Brian posted in his soupbox that the song that inspired him to write "see what a fool I've been" in the early Queen days has been fianlly identified after 30 years of research!

"The song was recorded only on one limited edition collection of the songs of Big Bill Broonzy and - SONNY TERRY and BROWNIE McGHEE. Under the title of "This Is What I Feel" there it was. "

Great news!

Now I am curious to hear this song (!)

Did I already tell you that this song is on my site since Feb 16th? Thanks to a wonderful lady who sent me the track by surprise! I think it's great to hear this track after so many years (in this quality). I can imagine how Brian May felt when he recently heard it again.

Well, she told me I needn't give her the credits on my site, so I removed her name there. But yes, I got it from her, so she deserves the 'thank-you's", at least from me.

I hardly enter the MP3 section, but I've just read her post there.

I had expected SWAFIB to be more of a copy of THIF, but of course See What A Fool I've Been is much better (If one can say that). It's just amazing how Brian got influenced by this other song and made something how it turned out to be. He certainly turned it into something special. (though we know SWAFIB for so long).

Exactly, Tim had already mentioned that like years ago

John hated HS. Fred's fave singer was not PR. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

Rien, you are awesome.

Btw. sorry I wasn't on the 'net on Saturday. My stupid sister, being the bitch she is, she went on the internet chat rooms w/o permission on Fri. evening, and so got the connection cut off by my dad, so me and my other sister are pissed off at her atm.

I'll try and find some way to send you that MP3 I promised you, unless you can get someone here to send it to you, which would save me a lot of trouble

My thanks to YourValentine, Rein and also someone named Michael Gottlieb who apparently found it originally.

It's quite fun to hear how the original sounded, and what parts were inspirational. Aside from the actual line about "what a fool I've been", arguably the style of song, the 'changes' or whatever you call them (I'm not much of a musician) have been used a million times in blues songs so my feeling is that May's version is more 'inspired by' rather than copied.

I noticed you didn't show up of course, but no problem. Btw, I do have a 12" version of Love Don't Live Here Anymore (That's the track we're talking if I remember well). Rather good quality but you do hear, especially at the beginning, that it's from a vinyl record (ticking etc).

No, it was 12" Loving You, by Feargal Sharkey and Roger Taylor, I'm sure of it.

And I was also supposed to send you the two MP3's of the 7" Remix of PISCTP.

Will let you know when an opportunity comes up to send you the MP3's somehow

But, ironically, I do want that 12" track that you mentioned there, Rien. Maybe we'll make this a trade :)
