I always liked Peter Allen and his music and just recently saw the Broadway show The Boy From Oz, which, incidentally was THE best show I have ever seen. Anyway, I never quite realized just how much Freddie and Peter's life were alike. Both were very much in love with women early on, Freddie with Mary and Peter with Liza Minnelli, whom he married. Both remained true to these women throughout their lives. Both, of course, went on to have lovers, and both, of course, went on to contract AIDS. Both were somewhat promiscuous, but both wound up to have long-term relationships with their last lovers. Freddie died in 1991 and Peter died in 1992. Both had fans who didn't like the fact that they were gay and both had women fans who simply adored them, and wouldn't accept or believe the fact that they were gay. Both were larger than life entertainers who gave their all. Freddie died at 45 and Peter at 48. I just found this all very interesting. By the way, if any of you get the opportunity to see The Boy From Oz, do so. It is absolutely amazing and Hugh Jackman is an incredible performer and does justice to Peter Allen! It's like watching him perform yourself!

Strange juxtaposition but you're right...though I thought Freddie and Bob Fosse had the same ambitious drive!
