The Works was released in February 1984, yet Queen didn't go on the road until August. Any particular reason for the 6 month gap? Usually, Queen would release an album to coincide with an upcoming tour, but this seemed to be the exception. Was a US tour planned then cancelled?

Unless I'm mistaken, recording for Magic finished in March or April 1986 (correct me if I'm wrong), and the Magic tour started in June (same month the album was released). So there was a gap, but not as long as The Works.

Perhaps they needed a rest? They weren't 20 by then. They were getting old, and some rest was needed. Awful answer, but eh :P

Heh, doubtful, considering they hadn't toured since November 1982.
