Naturally if you convert vcd into svcd, the resolution will be higher and also the bitrate, this causing a larger filesize /minute. Now why would you want to "turn" a vcd into svcd ?

I haven't actually checked or tried, but I heard you can only get something like 45 minutes on SVCD.

I haven't seen much of an improvement over VCD, and it seems to take much longer to convert stuff to the right format, so I usually don't bother.

Haven't tried Nero for VCDs yet. I've been using NTI. I used to use 2 separate programs.. one to make the 'image', one to burn it. The good old days :-P

If your source is really an MPG file of a VCD standard
(either NTSC or PAL) converting it to SVCD
will in no-way improve its quality.
Rubbish in = Rubbish out.

Kind of like converting an mp3 to a wav thinking the
lost frequencies will magically re-appear IMHO.
