How did the feud end?

I heard Brian was thinking of suing for copyright nfringement but later decided not to press any charges.

Is that right?

Hollywood Records sued him. Had to pay money + had to give credit to Q+Bowie.

I don't think the Queen organization themselves were too upset about it.. had they been asked permission first, it probably would have been approved. But the timing just happened to be right, with Hollywood recently acquiring the U.S. rights to Queen stuff, that they weren't going to let it pass.

I don't think Ice is to blame though. He had apparently been doing sampling and performing the song long before he had a contract. His label was responsible for getting clearances and such. I don't like the way he tried to deny it however.. claiming his slight change made it totally different, but perhaps he was told to say something like this when the question was asked.

I've never heard what the Bowie camp had to say, if anything about this though.

Lovely haircut in the mugshot btw. LOL

This is what Brian wrote to me months ago when I asked him about Vanilla Ice and Vanguard and people who have remixed and or sampled Queen...

"As far as Vanilla Ice and Vanguard, etc are concerned, truly every case is different. Vanilla Ice definitely DIDN'T ask any permission, but it was our publishers, not us, who pursued him and eventually 'did a deal' to ensure he paid his dues. Vanguard were a very different case - they came straight to us (through the proper channels - our management) with their idea and we liked it, so we agreed to endorse it. But there are many such cases where we DON'T say yes. So it wouldn't be fair of me to give the idea that we will let anyone do what they want with our material! "

I loved it when he sang the "dings" on VH1 (MTV?). He changed one-half ding from their version to his version. It was almost too pathetic to be funny.

God wants you to send me some money.

There's a bit of Ice Ice Baby being used in the trailer for "13 Going On 30". Didn't think this was worth a new topic so I found this old one :)

It looks like a funny film, though not exactly original. It's about a 13 year old girl who makes a wish to be grown-up and wakes up the next day as an adult.. but unlike 'Big' she's transported from the 80s to present time. And she's prettier than Tom Hanks.
