Billy Joel - That's Not Her Style

Some people think that she's one of those mink-coated ladies
They say she wakes up at one
And makes the paparazzi run till dawn
She wines and dines with Argentines and Kuwaitis
After she sips margaritas on the White House lawn

That's not her style I can tell you
That ain't my woman
It's just not her style I can tell you
Because I'm her man

The papers say she was seen in L.A. with a stranger
She found a perfect body with a Maserati right outside
And then she chartered a Lear
When she heard her career was in danger
And gave the pilot somethin' extra for a perfect ride

Not that she's never done something crazy or done something wild
It's just that she's better at doing whatever suits her style
And that's not her style

I've read where it's said that she sleeps in a bed made of satin
She's had her face done in every place you can try
They say she gets a piece of every lease in Manhattan
And says she's thirty when she's really pushing forty-five

I LOVE that song! :D

oh god... the lyrics? that'd take lots of pgs Dan... but alright....

Science Fiction / Double Feature

Michael Rennie was ill
The Day the Earth Stood Still
But he told us where we stand
And Flash Gordon was there
In silver underwear
Claude Rains was The Invisible Man
Then something went wrong
For Fay Wray and King Kong
They got caught in a celluloid jam
Then at a deadly pace
It Came From Outer Space
And this is how the message ran...

Science fiction (ooh ooh ooh) double feature
Doctor X (ooh ooh ooh) will build a creature
See androids fighting (ooh ooh ooh) Brad and Janet
Anne Francis stars in (ooh ooh ooh) Forbidden Planet
Wo oh oh oh oh oh
At the late night, double feature, picture show

I knew Leo G. Carroll
Was over a barrel
When Tarantula took to the hills
And I really got hot
When I saw Janette Scott
Fight a Triffid that spits poison and kills
Dana Andrews said prunes
Gave him the runes
And passing them used lots of skills
But When Worlds Collide
Said George Pal to his bride
I'm gonna give you some terrible thrills
Like a...

Wouldn't it be more convenient to
...start a new "what song are you listening to know"
thread ANNNND add a link to the lyrics (that anyone
could find with google) of the song to your each post...

Just a friendly suggestion.

I'm listening Guns N' Roses, but I'm too lazy to go and find the lyrics on google and post them here.

I doubt most people who look through this thread will read all the lyrics posted here.

'Stuck In The Middle With You' - Stealer's Wheel.

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,
And I'm wondering what it is I should do,
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face,
Losing control, yeah, I'm all over the place,
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you're proud that you're a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please.... Please.....

Trying to make some sense of it all,
But I can see that it makes no sense at all,
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor,
'Cause I don't think that I can take anymore
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you're proud that you're a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please.... Please.....

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you,
Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,
Stuck in the middle with you.

'Whiskey in The Jar' - Thin Lizzy.

As I was goin' over the Cork and Kerry mountains
I saw Captain Farrell and his money he was countin'
I first produced my pistol and then produced my rapier
I said stand o'er and deliver or the devil he may take ya

Must ya ring dum a doo dum a da
What for my daddy-o
What for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

I took all of his money and it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money and I brought it home to Molly
She swore that she'd love me, never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman for you know she tricked me easy

Must ya ring dum a doo dum a da
What for my daddy-o
What for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

Being drunk and weary I went to Molly's chamber
Takin' my money with me and I never knew the danger
For about six or maybe seven in walked Captain Farrell
I jumped up, fired off my pistols and I shot him with both barrels

Must ya ring dum a doo dum a da
What for my daddy-o
What for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

Now some men like the fishin' and some men like the fowlin'
And some men like ta hear a cannon ball a roarin'
Me I like sleepin' specially in my Molly's chamber
But here I am in prison, here I am with a ball and chain yeah

Must ya ring dum a doo dum a da
What for my daddy-o
What for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o

And i got drunk on whiskey-o
And I love, i love, i love, i love, i love, i love my molly-o

Billy Joel - All About Soul

She waits for me at night, she waits for me in silence
She gives me all her tenderness and takes away my pain
And so far she hasn't run, though I swear she's had her moments
She still believes in miracles while others cry in vain

It's all about soul
It's all about faith and a deeper devotion
It's all about soul
'Cause under the love is a stronger emotion
She's got to be strong
'Cause so many things getting out of control
Should drive her away
So why does she stay?
It's all about soul

She turns to me sometimes and asks me what I'm dreaming
And I realize I must have gone a million miles away
And I ask her how she knew to reach out for me that moment
And she smiles because it's understood there are no words to say

It's all about soul
It's all about knowing what someone is feeling
The woman's got soul
The power of love and the power of healing
This life isn't fair
It's gonna get dark, it's gonna get cold
You've got to be tough, but that ain't enough
It's all about soul

There are people who have lost every trace of human kindness
There are many who have fallen, there are some who still survive
She comes to me at night and she tells me her desires
And she gives me all the love I need to keep my faith alive

It's all about soul
It's all about joy that comes out of sorrow
It's all about soul
Who's standing now and who's standing tomorrow
You've got to be hard
Hard as the rock in that old rock 'n' roll song
But that's only part, you know in your heart
It's all about soul

Good to see lots of Billy here. I was just listening to some rare Billy Joel stuff that never made it on to albums. I'd post the lyrics, but a quick search didn't reveal any place to copy and paste from, and I'm not typing them all out.

Pearl Jam - Lukin

Drive down the street can't find the keys to my own fucking home.
I'll take a walk so I could curse my ass for being dumb.
I'll make a right, after the arches, stinking grease and bone.
Stopped at the supermarket people stare like I'm a dog.

I'm going to Lukin's.
I've got a spot at Lukin's.
I knocked the door at Lukin's.
Open the fridge. Now I know life is worth.

I found the key but I return to find an open door.
Some fucking freak who claims I fathered, by rape, her own son.
I find my wife, I call the cops, this days work's never done.
The last I heard that freak was purchasing a fucking gun.

God wants you to send me some money.

Yeah, I found a bunch on the Internet some years back. Pretty good stuff, actually. Some covers, remixes and things, but here are the original ones with some details from memory (you can probably find better details with a Google search):

All-American Blues (Some kind of live thing with a bunch of impressions in it. Meh.)
Bye Bye (From Cold Spring Harbor days - not bad)
Country Song (Funny parody of country music)
Elvis Presley Boulevard (B-side of "Allentown" - OK)
Great Ships, Great Oceans (From the Cold Spring Harbor days, I guess - brilliant)
Handball (An instrumental - good stuff)
House of Blue Light (B-side of "We Didn't Start the Fire" - great song)
Josephine (I think this is from the Cold Spring Harbor days - great one)
Layers and Divorces (It sounds like it was from the era of The Bridge - not bad but not great)
Long Long Time (From the Cold Spring Harbor days, I think - very good song)
Money or Love (This is some song that was written in the 80's - a good one)
My Journey's End (Just a clip of a Q/A session when he discusses the first song he ever wrote when he was 14 or 15 - not a masterpiece, but catchy - you could tell he had potential)
Nobody Knows but Me (From In Harmony 2 - a kids song about an imaginary friend - good song)
Only a Man (Clearly from the Cold Spring Harbor days - not bad)
Oyster Bay (From the Piano Man days I think - great song)
Rosalinda (From the Cold Spring Harbor days, definately - one of the most beautiful songs he's ever written)
Silver Seas (This is "Nocturne" with words, basically)
Until You Come to Me (I think this is also from around the Cold Spring Harbor times - a really great song)
We All Have Our Cross to Bear (I think this was a cut track from Piano Man - great song)
Where's the Revolution? (Another cut track from Piano Man, I think - beautiful song)
You Picked a Real Bad Time (B-side of All About Soul Remix - excellent)

I Do The Rock - Tim Curry

Go look up the lyrics yourself! I'm too lazy too... seriously... and this one isn't from RHPS, its from an actual album of his, hehe!

Love me, that's all I ask of you
