I totally thought this was Freddie singing, but I realized that

(1) backing vocals don't sound like Queen
(2) Never heard any site mention it.

So any idea? Download the song and see for yourself. I'd appreciate info because I really like the vocal a lot.

It was labelled Goodbye from the beginning: I downloaded it from some fileshare programme thinking it was Queen. Reckon I was cheated?

(Or is this an official release and I just didn't realize it?? In all, who's the singer??!)

*edit: thanks for the reply! I don't know how to take the download off, so anyone wants to download the song, go ahead!

April Lady, by Smile - a pre Queen band consisting of Brian, Roger and Tim Staffel (bass/vocals). Brian sings on this track, recorded in 1969.

Wow, Brian sings so well in this track - I wonder why he doesn't sing like this later?

Arguably Freddie is better and therefore crushed Brian's spirit...and throat.

Well, not *arguably*. Freddie did have vocal delivery that surpassed anyone, including Brian.

It's just that in this track Brian sounds so much like Freddie... really amazing. Wait, is the lead vocal Tim? Hm... something to consider.

I still like Brian's voice though... some songs wouldn't have worked if he didn't sing it.

Actually it's very much a duet: Brian sings the verses but the chorus ("goodbye April lady, it's been good to have you around...") is Roger.

John hated HS. Fred's fave singer was not PR. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

Sorry. I meant arguably in the sense that Brian didn't sing like he did in April Lady as he did in Queen songs.

That or the time he tried to become one with the guitar by eating it damaged his vocal chords..think about it.

I wonder if they were trying it for Queen, like "Polar Bear" or "Doin'All Right"...
