I have a love-hate relationship with these. On one hand, they scare me silly (yes, I know I'm a baby, don't rub it in). On the other hand, I think they're great. I just finished watching "From Hell" - I'd seen Johnny Depp in that role before (Sleepy Hollow) and he never fails to - forgive my schmalziness - chill me to the bone.

So anyway, I want to continue to torture myself as such. Does anyone have some (HIGH-QUALITY, NOT slasher) flicks to recommend?

For anyone who hasn't seen them (and thinks they can handle it), I definitely recommend the original Psycho, I Bury the Living, Carrie, Halloween 1, and possibly the most frightening movie of all time, Wait Until Dark.

I love Wait Until Dark! Audrey Hepburn is my favorite actress. The Shining still seems to get to me after all these years

I saw 'Rosemary's Baby' last week. Indeed one of the greatest thrillers ever, but almost ruined by a stupid ending.

I do not fare well with horror movies... I see one and for a week I'm scared. Happens every time. :-[

The most frightening movie I've ever seen is Nosferatu. I think it's a combinaton of really good makeup and the way those old films jump. I do love that movie so... *sigh*

*ahem*

Yeah... Uhhh... That movie. :P

Nosferatu was way ahead of his time, certainly one of the scariest movies ever.At the end,the way Nosferatu desappeared was so well made.Anyways,a movie that I consider you to see is "Jacob's Ladder" with Tim Robbins.

Salem's Lot (the original)still scares me. There is a new remake I will see it and also The Exorcist I have the new one with the unseen footage. Frightening!

I gave up on horror movies after I saw the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Didn't sleep properly for at least a week after and the second night after I saw it I veritably begged my boyfriend to come and stay!
Fair enough it was rated R18 but I saw Secret Window some months later which had a significantly lower rating and it still gave me the shivers.(even though i thought it was shite...man I hate being cheated!)
So now I'm only going to watch things with bunnies, ponies and sex scenes.

The weirdest thing is I never had any trouble with that spate of horror films that began with Scream. And not really with the Exorcist either...mind you, supernatural stuff doesn't bother me too much.

the only 'horror' movie ive really watched is cube. I keep telling people about it because i think everyone should watch it because it is the weirdest move i have seen. plus- people are killed randomly. so watch it.

Will do, my dear. It sounds...eh...interesting.

And how could I omit Donnie Darko? Sheer brilliance.

Horror movies do nothing for me, I find them all a bit shite. Each to their own though.

Same here. Most of them are so bad and exaggerated that they make me laugh.

Donnie Darko is an excellent flick, but I dunno if it would qualify as a horror movie.

It's one of those weird David Lynch style of movies that are great but you don't really know what kind of genre do they belong to.

The Japanese version of 'The Ring' is a lot better than the American remake, and the last scene with the girl coming out of the TV is a hell more creepy.
