Let's see if any of you do better at this than I did.

I've been playing a game on a movie web site that deals with the six-degrees-of-separation theory. It's rather difficult.

The rules are: The connections must involve movies (e.g., no "So-and-so has the same middle name as so-and-so..."), and there is more than one right answer.

These are some that I remember.

***

In six moves or less, connect:

1) Alan Rickman and Claire Danes.
2) J.K. Rowling and Leonardo DiCaprio.
3) Tim Burton and Herman Mellville.
4) Michael Stipe and Steve Prefontaine.
5) Peter Jackson and Jennifer Connolly
6) Jeremy Irons and Mark Twain.
7) Meat Loaf and Paul Simon (remember, through MOVIES).

And if you can get this one, I'm sending you a very large, expensive prize.

8) Daniel Radcliffe and Kappei Yamaguchi (WHO!? WHO!?)

God wants you to send me some money.

I can do these in considerably less than 6 connections, although I must confess I somewhat overlooked your 'Movie' angle to the whole affair:-

1) Alan Rickman starred in a film about Robin Hood, Red Riding Hood was a girl as is Claire Danes.
2) J.K. Rowling writes crap books and Leonardo DiCaprio stars in crap films.
3) Tim Burton is an example of someone I have heard of and Herman Mellville isn't.
4) Michael Stipe has a baldy head and Steve Prefontaine may also have one, although I couldn't tell you as I've never heard of him.
5) Peter Jackson has a beard, as has Billy Connolly who shares the same surname as Jennifer Connolly, who doesn't have a beard.
6) Jeremy Irons has a surname that means something as does Mark Twain.
7) Meat Loaf tastes disgusting. Paul Simon looks disgusting.
8) Daniel Radcliffe is a geeky looking child and geeky looking children would know that Kappei Yamaguchi is involved with Japanese anime cartoony shite (a geeky looking child told me).

I hate these games.

He is?

I may be able to get this one yet...

Steve Prefontaine was anything but bald, by the way :)

I reckon the Jeremy Irons one must involve Roald Dahl in some way - he was the dad in Danny the Champion of the World - AND WHO'S BEEN RIPPING OFF QUEEN LYRICS?? ;-)

Will do :)

1) Alan Rickman's first big-screen role was as Tybalt in the 1979 romeo & Juliet, a play which was also made into a 1998 (?) movie starring Claire Danes.

2) JK Rowling is the author of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", made into a movie featuring David Thewlis as Professor Lupin. Thewlis portrayed Paul Verlaine in the 1995 film Total Eclipse, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Arthur Rimbaud.

3) Tim Burton directed Sleepy Hollow, which featured Christina Ricci, who was also in the music video for the song "Trouble So Hard" by Moby, a descendant of Herman Mellville.

4) Michael Stipe produced the movie Saved! featuring Patrick Fugit, who starred in Almost Famous alongside Billy Crudup, who played track star Steve Prefontaine in the movie Without Limits.

5) Peter Jackson directed the LOTR movies, featuring Billy Boyd as Pippin. Boyd appeared alongside Russell Crowe in Master and Commander, and Crowe starred in A Beautiful Mind with Jennifer Connolly.

6) Jeremy Irons voiced Scar in The Lion King, which also featured Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who played Tom Sawyer in the movie Tom & Huck, based on two novels by Mark Twain.

7) Meat Loaf was in The Rocky Horror Picture Show with Tim Curry, the voice of Mr. Thornberry in the Wild Thornberrys movie, featuring the song "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon.

And I still haven't figured out number 8.

Didja have to do that much wondering?

And someone on my favorite Pearl Jam forum found another Radcliffe/Yamaguchi connection. Maybe I spoke to soon with that prize thing :$
