In the absence of new Queen DVDs (come on Brian, when's the next DVD-A out????), I decided to blow a tenner on the unauthorised documentry "Magic Moments".

Well, let me tell you what's on it and you can all decide whether you think it's worth your hard earned cash.

As a documentry, it lasts 60 minutes and is mainly comprised of interviews with Peter Freestone, Peter Straker, Wayne Sleep, Peter Stringfellow, Simon Bradley (guitar magazine), Annie Nightingle (ex radio1 DJ) and David Minns, all talking about their personal views and experinces which are kinda interesting.

The composure of the DVD takes each album in turn and any relevant bits of info from the interviewees is used.

There are a number of photos used, about 4 of which I've never seen.
Regards the "rare clips" used - well these are sparse and basically consist of bits from Freddie's interview by ABC Australia in 84/85 (about 40 seconds worth), rehearsal footage from Live Aid (about 30 seconds and SILENT), a brief interview clip of Brian from a Live Aid interview and a clip of Roy Thomas Baker talking about BR from "magic Years".
There's also about 6 seconds of the band landing at Knebworth in the chopper (again silent).

I won't tell you whether it's worth your hard earned cash or not, but I'm sure most people will be dissapointed in the lack of clips and music (understandable really as it's NOT official) and you won't hear an awful lot of info you didn't already know...

Now then, who's going to buy the next unofficial DVD release that comes out soon and tell us all about it?

I actually enjoy documentaries which don't feature music. It's rather nice sometimes to just enjoy an intelligent programme about a musical act without it being filled with clips of shit we've heard a million times.

The Beatles Anthology is the worst offender. Some of their clips are full-length! How could they? I'd much rather just hear those involved discussing things.

I rather enjoyed the Beatles Anthology. I know there's probably more material than we all saw (and what's on the DVD version) but I'm happy the remaining three got together before George passed away. It was exciting to hear an "almost-Beatles" song (Free As A Bird) but it would have been moreso if John had been alive.
If Brian and Roger (and Mr Brooks) would get their priorities in line and finally release that Rarities boxset, then that would be a miracle!

Please see the other thread about Becoming Queen, the latest unauthorised bio DVD that's a mere $10 US dollars! (Beware, there are some copies on Ebay going for $20 -- odd because the list price is $17!)
