Anybody got one or planning to buy one? Im torn- i have been told by some that they are no better, just more expensive than other mp3 players, but by others that they are easier to use and more reliable. Opinions please!

I am in this same dilemma right now! In fact, I was about to make a post about it.

I really wanted an iPod at first. Two of my friends had one. But my mom convinced me that there were just as good, if not better, mp3 players.

We looked at some, such as the Rio Karma, and some Creative Labs ones.

Then at Best Buy, the salespeople convinced us that the iPod is a better way to go. So, we were on our way to get an iPod.

THEN, we discovered that after the battery doesn't hold a charge in it, you have to mail it in to Apple, and they replace it (you can't change the battery yourself), but it's 99 dollars! But, as it turns out, you have to do this with the Rio Karma too, and it's 175 dollars. So, I'm probably gonna get an iPod. And even though it's expensive, I'm gonna get the 20 GB for 399 dollars. It come with a leather carrying case, a remote control, and a dock for charging it. All those things combined with a 15 GB would be more that 399 dollars. So the 5 extra GB are practically free. Also, (if you go to an Apple store), and show a college ID (which my brother has) you get 30 dollars off.

As for mini iPods- they're a waste. They're just 50 dollars less than the 15 GB, but hold a considerably less amount.

I made a post like this recently...

I'm still debating whether getting one or not. But definitely not a Mini-Ipod. It's a rip off, and there's not much size difference between both anyways.

I've recently bought a rio Nitrus (£99.00 from Ebay) it holds 1.5 gigs

very pleased with it so far. Best features:

1.5 gigs (plenty for all the queen albums)
very small and light (easily fits into hand and pocket)

internal battery (lasts a long time)

I just bought a 15 GB iPod yesterday! I love it! It's so cool! I was just staring at it, and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. I actually couldn't sleep for a while, cause I was so anxious for it to finish charging and get to use it.

I find it very amusing uploading all my CDs onto iTunes. It's really fun for some reason. I'm uploading "A Hard Day's Night" as I type.
