I've got two questions for you:

1. Does the 'The Eye' videogame contain the artwork book and the extra CD or are the game and the book two seperate releases?

2. Which version of the 11.05.1985 Tokyo gig has the best sound quality (e.g. Nihon, Tokyo 1985, Fleur du Mal)?

THANX!

The book + promo cd were seperately available. I think most 11.05.1985 releases have the same quality, because they are all taken from the official laserdisc.

No No No there's a variation of resources off the Tokyo 1985 gig. Most of the early releases were taken from the LP. There are some uncutted Lp's availble these contain the uncut mother tape , but do also not feature the solo part.

Le Fleur du Mal is one of the better sound recordings of this show. Bt I'd doubt that one of them was taken from the laserdisc, I think they're all taken from the vinyl sources or from various generation tapes.

The one that was taken from the brazilian DVD or perhaps the Laserdisc is : WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS 2cd from Letland, or russia, this one has oveerall the best sound but misses SSOR.

Why are you looking for this show anyway ? Freddie voice is bad, the master recording isn't that good, and the show is edited!? You'de better look out for the LAST STAND Cd (osaka 1985-05-15) in ex sound and a great (complete) show!!

Hope this will help you out!

The eYe boxset contains a full-colour instruction book of the game (beautiful illustrations!) and the boxed set of the five CDRs, each in its own sleeve. Getting as scarce as the FM Solo Collection!

The hardcover book and free CD ROM are sold separately. It's called The Art Of Queen The eYe.

I managed to pick up a copy of 'The Art Of Queen' complete with cd in a local book store that deals in discontinued stock - for £5.00.
Bargain - I thought

Still can't play the bloody game though !!!

"Getting as scarce as the FM Solo Collection!"

HMV are still stocking this in their stores. (The FM solo collection I mean)
HMV on Oxford Street had 3 copies in there a couple of weeks ago

Just thought I'd let you know - just in case you want it

Join the club -- I'm STILL trying to get past the Arena domain!!
Is it the UK HMV website that's offering the Solo Collection? How much do they want for it?

The Tokyo show is a sound board recording, the Osaka gig isn't. Was there an official LP release of Final Live in Japan?!? In my opinion the best sound quality came from the official laser disc rather than from an LP...

Yes indeed is the Osaka show is a audienecerecording but a very good one !
I think the show is much better than the Tokyo.Best way to get the tokyo is perhaps the DVD from brasil, if you don't own a laserdisc player. But is surely not the best show queen performed, the sound is bad, though it's a soundboard and freddie's voice is also very bad! Though I think that the works tour was one of the badest tours of queen, it simply doesn's have the heavy rock in it! But what a great stage!

"As far as I remember, the tie-ins (Art, Secrets, Novel) were actually released long before the game came out. Can anyone confirm this ?"

They were! There was a LOT of hype for this game, called "the first of its kind". The Secrets book has long been out of print, as has the Novel. I received a catalog yesterday from Nina's Discount Oldies and they have the hardcover book (Art) on sale for $3.95 on clearance! If anyone wants to order this, the catalog number is BK0549 and the toll-free number (US) is (800) 336-4627, fax number is (610) 649-0315. Shipping is $3.95. (Sorry no website for this company!)

I know! I just got into LaserDiscs, and I have to say that, while it's not AS good as DVD's (or at least the one's I've seen so far), it's certainly a very good and very interesting video format.

Kinda wish I had a better LD player though; my player won't switch between sides on CLV discs anymore, but it will on CAV discs, which is odd. Also, mine didn't come with a remote and so also doesn't have any ways of skipping between chapters, which pisses me off cos if I want to go to a scene that is in the middle of or near the end of the disc, I have to hold the fast forward/rewind jog to fast forward until I get to the scene, which takes a bit.

But the nice thing about LD's is that, yes, you can transfer them to DVD and usually not have to worry about Macrovision.

1) About QUEEN: THE eYe. Yes, the book which cames with the CD-ROM, titled THE ART OF QUEEN: THE eYe, is a different release than the game itself. This book has different EU and US releases, both readily available and cheap (under 10 USD). The game is harder to get in good condition as its box tends to bend and deteriorate on the stores; the JP issue has a very nice box with an obi strip. There is also a pocket book called THE NOVEL OF QUEEN: THE EYE, which is not very interesting unless you are a big fan of the game. The book with hints to win it, called SECRETS OF QUEEN: THE EYE, was withdrawn, but I guess it got printed and some copies might have surfaced. I have also a promo video EPK with an exclusive video of Death On Two Legs.

2) In addition to the already mentioned releases, the official JP DVD issued recently should not be forgotten. I have not received it yet, but I am not satisfied with the sound in the BR DVD.

Oh, you're lucky to have a newer player! My two are second-and-third-generation Pioneers. I can't play any newer, THX-encoded discs because the players don't have that technology, all I get is high-pitched static! I've got a special edition of Amadeus that I can't even watch, except my dad has one like yours so I can watch it on his, and he's got his home theatre split between the laserdisc and DVD players (which is nice -- I might try that, I need a switch box!) and it sounds fantastic. The Queen discs are almost thunderous on a home theatre (you should hear the Wembley discs, the sound blows the DVD away literally!!).
I bought a Queen Karaoke Flix from a chap in Brazil and it was a burn off the laserdiscs, VERY good transfer! I will compare the Japanese DVD when they arrive later this month!
And Ebay sells those players cheap. Funny, Dad's model cost $850 new eight years ago!
