Using the correct grammar, it would say:

"I wonder who is more rich. Brian or Roger."

That's what I really like about this forum: not only that I usually get all sort of infos about my fav band, but I also learn how to speak English properly! Thanks to all the grammar geniuses out here who never make a mistake for teaching me all I needed to know about this language... You can never imagine how much it helped me, pals! :)

Brian is surely more rich than Rog, after all he gets some money everytime WWRY is played somewhere in the world. But he deserves it...

According to the Sunday Times rich list 2003 Roger Taylor is worth £55m, John Deacon is worth £50m and Brian May is worth £55m but this is before the We Will Rock You show was so popular, so now I'd say brian is worth £60m and Roger about £56-57m

"more rich" seems to be against all rules. Do natives use that?

Yeah, and im sure John gets paid for the use of his songs too. With the musical doing so well, I think theyll gradually start climbing the list. I know there is only £10m difference between the three of them. Its a good job John wrote AOBTD otherwise he could be quite far behind them.

Richer is ok to use as an adjective, but I would probably use wealthier myself. More rich, while grammatically correct, is a bit awkward to use.

Also, there should be a colon in that sentence-

"Who is wealthier: Brian or Roger?"

Without the colon, you just have a sentence and a phrase.

Matt unfortunately was pretty much talking bollocks with his statement.

The only thing really wrong with Freddies_Gal's statement was that it was missing something between the 'richer' and the 'Brian or Roger', as Zeni correctly pointed out.

It could have been:

- Who is richer? Brian or Roger?

or even

- Who is richer: Brian? Or Roger?

or how about

- Who is richer?: Brian or Roger.

I don't think many native English speakers would use 'more rich'. The average English speaker, I would have thought, would be most likely to say "Who's the richest/who's richer?" or "Who's got the most money?" rather than "Who's wealthier?".

Oh, and I think the inclusion of a comma in your last sentence is entirely superfluous and essentially wrong. :)

Thanks! And since you seem to be in the mood for answering off-topic questions, I have one more: I have never ever heard anyone pronounce the name Milton Keynes. Is it Keynes like in "convey", or like in "key"? Or even like in "eye"? One or two syllables? Reading it I always thought it was like in key and one syllable.

Yep it's Keynes as in 'keys' but with an n in it! Top pop facts and pics: Milton Keynes is also the home of Marshall amps (and they make Vox AC30s in the same factory!). And home to the Enigma machine that helped win WWII.

I believe that for some time John was much wealthier/rich/richer (haha!) than Roger cos he invested well in recording studios and stuff. Oh, and the tiny fact that John wrote infinately better songs!!! (controversial!)

Why does everyone assume it is Brian?

Roger would receive a greater share of the royalties cake because he wrote more "chart worthy" hits.

Everytime someone sells, plays (radio or video), leases (as in compiliations) a successful track like "Radio Ga Ga" Roger would recieve the biggest slice.

Regarding royalties for single sales - I think Roger still recieves a share of "Bo Rhap".

Then again, the most successful Queen record was written by John Deacon, and paradoxically, has been the (perhaps) most covered too!

Err, sorry?...a mastepiece?, WWRY could be the most famous Queen song, but it far to be a "Obra maestra" ,a good song but not a Masterpiece.

now back to the question, knowing that Brian is divorced,I think both have the same "poverty" level

About a year ago, I recall an article that came out about the richest people in England, and Brian and Roger were both at the 85 million quid mark.

But if we want to use the "hit song" theory, it would be Roger. I can't believe people here are forgetting that in terms of top ten hits, Roger has AKOM and Ga Ga, while Brian only has WWRY.

(edit)

Hmm, but can we include solo stuff? If so, then Brian has TMLWKY and Driven By You.

Bah, whatever... :P
