Did you go? I have one friend in London (I live across the big pond in the U.S.), and I tried to bribe her with American Calvin Klein Jeans and Jack Daniels to go and get a copy signed for me...I haven't heard back from her yet - she probably didn't go...me will be VERY unhappy...but she did say that she had friends who work at that store, so maybe I'm getting disappointed prematurely.

I went. Never met him before, so I was a little nervous, but he was really nice. We managed to get near the front of the queue and so we didn't have to wait too long. Also was a good way to meet other Queen fans. I thought it was worth it. :)

Anyone else go?

No prob... I remember you mentioned how you're living in London, so I just had to let you know about it, in case you missed the QZ news item... turns out you did!

So was it tea or coffee? Clogs or Adidas?

I've met him!!! Yeah, signed the book- it was AMAZING- mere 2 minutes but he was extremely nice... I managed to say"thank you for your music,man- it changed my life" and that I'm really looking forward the Milton Keynes release, sth that made him smile... His voice... Few seconds and you really know that HE IS the nicest guy on this planet... Amazing... Being 11 you play on the tennis rocket pretending to be Brian May, you listen to the band for 15 years and those ppl are some kind of abstract thing- Gods, Something- and suddenly, there he was, flesh and blood... And it wasn't a let down- OH NO!!! BTW: he looks fucking great!!! Being 57 I would love to look half as good!!! If you see pictures on his soapbox or sth- in real life, he looks even better... Amazing experience!!!

Bob- I owe you BIG TIME!!! Come to London for a beer... :)

I remember feeling severely let down the first time I ever went into a Virgin Megastore and discovered it was just full of records and that.

Same with me- I arrived 5 minutes to 6 and suddenly (by accident... yeah, right;) ) I was about twentieth person in the queue!!!

I'm just smiling ear to ear, reading your story... I'm so happy for you. :) I felt similarly when Brian emailed me about my WWRY audition... but your feeling must have been that multiplied by 100!

I'm coming to Europe in 2006 for the World Cup in Germany, and I'm hoping to visit as many countries as possible! Holland is a sure thing, so perhaps England could be too. Much planning will begin about a year from now.

Well, my friend DID go to the Megastore for me, but she couldn't get in - security said there were too many people. Just my luck :-(

I actually haven't heard much about this book itself. Could anyone tell me about it?

Most of it is taken up by the script of the musical. Reading through it made me laugh a little... some of the "jokes" are quite obvious and not really that funny, but still, it's impressive. Very well illustrated, lots of pictures of the cast performing and of Brian, Roger and Ben with others (choreographers, cast members, etc)and a foreward by both Brian and Roger- Roger's is significantly shorter than Brians! Not the most informative of books IMO, but still pretty good. Possibly not worth £17, especially if it's not signed. :)
The "information" Ben Elton gives is quite interesting to read, though. Gives an outline of the "story" of the musical and how it was written.
