I was rather startled to receive a private message from the one, the only Flashman, informing me that he could not sign into Queenzone for whatever reason and asking if I could post a certain thread of his from the Khashoggi's Ship section of Queenonline. Instead of copying and pasting the link, as I would have done, I know many of you fear to tread water in such a place as QOL, so I offer you now, dear readers, Flashy's unabridged post. Keep a lookout for Cliff notes at a later date.
"Friends, no-marks and guttersnipes - it is with heavy heart that I feel the need to once again call you to arms, to stand tall and let it be known that you are proud to be a follower of a certain band called Queen.
In the past I admit that I have been too hasty, too forthright in drawing up the two vast armies that make up QueenZone and QueenOnLine and setting them against each other. I have realized my folly! Do not judge me on errors of the past - let them rest. For they were made with good intentions, sound reasoning and, aye, perhaps a little too much Claret than was clinically advisable. I see now that our greatest strength lies in unity, for we face now a common foe, an evil that must be thrown back into the abyss from whence it came. Only by our alliance can this peril be cast asunder and ultimately destroyed.
You know of who I speak. His presence, which many thought lost, has returned. His menace continues to grow and is even being fed by some here among you that shall remain nameless. Some may know them as the Moderators, but of those fell creatures I shall not utter here. Their time will come ere the end.
The battle will be long and bloody. Alas, the jeopardy of war! Some of those dearest to us may fall, but their courage and valour will never be forgotten. But we must stand firm and fade not. The enemy must know, that as long as we remain together, our strength will not diminish and our spirit will never be broken. For we share a bond between us far stronger than this despicable fiend could ever muster from all the Moderators in Queendom. Our devotion to the finest rock band to ever pluck a chord, beat a drum or go ‘Dey-oh!’ at opportune moments has forged such a kinship that we now have strength enough to overcome all those that choose the dark path. We have a light about us that would gladden the pitchest night.
And in me, you have a leader who is not afraid to stay at the rearmost, dictating affairs from the faraway viewpoint and safety of my general’s marquee, clutching my game ankle and sipping the finest Beaujolais. Rot this infernal tennis related injury! What I wouldn’t give to be at the front of the line, charging headlong at the adversary and depositing his scrotum into his belly courtesy of my right boot. But the doctor says ‘no’, and I also have a note from my mum.
So I say to you, good folk of QZ and QOL – now is the time to show your valour. Let this be the hour that, in time, we can look back upon and say proudly “I was there. I was one who was not afraid to bear arms and lock the enemy in combat for the common cause. I was privileged to stand shoulder to shoulder with my fellow Queen fans. I was honoured to have made a difference.”
Or, at a push, we could just ignore the bastard."
