There isn`t any proper paper on that. Guns (particularly Axl) and Metallica might have been at least partially influenced by Freddie`s songforms, because both bands are pretty clever in that. But they could have "learned" that from other people too, like Led Zeppelin or Iron Maiden. Both that and the guitar harmonies

Considering one of Axl`s two favourite albums ever is Queen II, I think there might be an influence from Black Queen in November Rain: note how the song "ends" in a V > I cadence, and then it "comes back" with a new section previously unseen ("lullabies" in March, outstanding guitar solo in November).

John hated HS. Fred's fave singer was not PR. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

Are you just talking about influences or are you also wondering about samples used, melodies used etc.

For example: The German rock band Gamma Ray has one song which uses the begin melody of Somebody to Love as its own intro, only played on guitar. On another song there is a short drum part referring to the style of Queen's debut album with the inspiring title Queen ;)

I mean mostly theoretical stuff, like song structure, lyrics, melodic parts, etc.
Thanx!

Listen to the music of Robbie Valentine and Valensia, two Dutch singers. Valentine even played as an opening act for (a part of) Brian May's tour of 1993 (?)
Also in a band like Nilsson (Dutch as well) you can hear influences, esp. in their album "Freddie's garden", which is quite nice, and of course in their Marlboro flashback concert "Flashback to Queen" (from 2000, if I'm not mistaken).

BTW: is there a registration from these Flashback concerts? I visited one, and it was quite interesting.

Queen were just so unique that few people after them can site them as a direct influence by way of their music itself. You'll rarely hear anything directly influenced by Queen, because the newer artist will be immediately accused of being a rip-off. Just look at what has happened to The Darkness, because he sings with falsetto and plays guitar in two-part harmony.

Yo Queen has influenced me.... and thats somthing I tell you! its an unconditional love and respect that I have for them... if people say to me what bands I like or music .. I will say "well.. I like shaggy.. bad ska rocking No doubt, michael J is a legend, bob marley makes me think!! and the specials are weird poets!"
But Queen I wouldnt mention in my list cost its my soul music... its all of my musical genre taste in one.

Queen is more than rock.. or "politically corectly shelved as pop" in ya music stores.
they are everything.

yo am modern music right here like many of you out there... am not going to cover endless Queen materials cos I havent got the legal fanancial support to borrow their songs,, but I tell you I make and compose music wether it be a RnB rock or just a jam under the influence of the almighty Queen...
if they can be so flexible with their beats so can Azmadlyflex right here!
watch out fa ma music cyber peeps!
peace!
