So on december 11 they will be there.
My question is, have they been there before? I read they appeared in the first ever show (February 14, 1981). Also among the guests was Barbara Valentin. Has anyone seen this? Is it true? What did they perform? Were they interviewed? Did Freddie know Valentin before, or did they meet there for the first time?

I don't know if they appeared on the first show, but in 1989 host Thomas Gottschalk (who knew Queen from several occasions and interviews from the late 70's on) announced at the end of a "Wetten dass... ?"-show that in the next edition Queen will perform ("The Miracle" had just been released). It was still in TV-magazines and Programme-schedules several weeks after that, but of course they did not perform - as Freddie last Public performance (mimed) was the Barcelona-thing on Ibiza, wasnt it ? And after that only the brits I think... !? Their absence from "Wetten dass... ?" was never explained or mentioned any more at the time.

There was also another show called "4 gegen Willi" hosted by Mike Krüger, which Freddie was rumoured to perform "Great Pretender", that didnt happen as well, to my knowledge.

Freddie did perform at the Gegen Willi show. A videofile of this (encoded by YV I think?) is in the hub.

That must be the performance at the "Time"-Musical at the Dominion (!).
Wasn't that "La nit" thing with Montserrat later ?
Anyway, I missed that particular "Willi"-show and never heard of it after that. Quite a nice surprise that he did actually perform. Have you seen the clip ? Anything special or noticeable ?

He just mimes to the Great Pretender track, dressed in the same white/beige suit he wore in the video of it.

... and danced around quite uuhmm, extravagantly, if you ask me. Looks interesting.

I got the video file from the Pretender. It is about 40mb and can send it to you if you like. Question is, how. However, Freddie did not show up during the show but was taped previously.

Are you sure? I think I saw him at the end of the tv-show when all the people who attended gathered around. I´m quite sure he carried one of the Freddie-figures around. But who knows? That has been 17 years ago...

Philipp, not "Wetten dass", we're talking about the "4 gegen Willi" show. They were announced to do "Wetten dass" in 1989, but did not appear.

Anyway, Scirocco, thanks for the offer, but thats more than my home-pc can swallow, and at work it won't get pass the firewall... maybe someday I will have a proper Internetconnection at home..
