We don't really celebrate an attempted coup of the English government in the States.

We dont celebrate the attempt by Guy Fawkes, to blow up the Houses of Parliament. We are celebrating the fact that it was a failure, and Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators were caught.

Well, the only time we have a bonfire is to destroy any evidence... or books.. or my moms cookbook

I gave up on books when 'To Kill A Mockingbird' gave me no useful advice on how to kill a mockingbird.

Actually I think the Poms and Kiwis celebrate GFD.. I'm not sure.

I reckon I could have done a better job.

It'll be the 400th anniversary next year - wonder if I would be allowed to burn down the Houses of Parliament to celebrate.

Well dont get caught, because you do not want to know what they did to Guy Fawkes.

Unfortunately, I know exactly what they did to Guy Fawkes. They hung him until he was half dead, cut his genitals off and set fire to them while he was still alive, cut his heart and lungs out before chopping him into four pieces.

Ah, the good old days.............

A girl on my hall told me last week that she'd only just realized that July 4th was an American holiday. (This in the midst of a conversation about how she was shocked the Halloween was also an American thing.)
