Roger Taylor of Queen is one of my all time favorites. Roger could do alot with one bass drum, I sensed a bit of John Bonham in his playing. He said he didn't do drum solos but what do you call the Jazz and The Game tours' tympani drum solo. He would have kicked Carl Palmer's ass(as much as I like Carl) in a tympani duel because if you watch the WWRY DVD, Roger was going all over the place on the tympani drums and his drum solo before the tymp solo kicked ass. Other favorites are Neil Peart of Rush, John Bonham, Keith Moon, Phil Collins(best left handed drummer ever!), Nick Mason of Pink Floyd is great too(watch Pink Floyd at Pompeii)

As Robert Plant said during the Tribute "Roger Taylor is the best drummer of all time" which is kinda harse when you have been in a band with John Bonham... RIP John

Robert really said that?? That staggers me. He was obviously just being polite, as Bonzo was the greatest drummer of all time.
Roger comes a near second :)

Roger himself says JB was the greatest drummer of all time. I disagree, I;ll vote for Roger. ;)

With all due respect to Cozy Powell, Cesar Zuiderwijk, Jeffrey Porcaro, Bill Ward en indeed our good old RT and some more, there is just one drummer: John Bonham...

As Grapefruit said earlier, how many drummers do you know that can sing and play as well as Roger?? Not many.

I remember going to see Brian live in 93 and he introduced Cozy Powell as the greatest ever drummer - ouch! All Cozy ever did was play double bass with a few skins inbetween, im not saying that he didnt do a good job though, but Eric Singer was better.

Bonham, Taylor, Bill Ward and Lars Ulrich are my faves.

Fuck Jason Bonham, Roger Taylor, and Keith Moon.

That kid from Hanson kicks their asses all the way to China.

Roger Taylor of Queen and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd. Both fantastic beats and rythmn, you can easily recognise them.

My personal favorites are John Bonham and Keith Moon for sheer power and legacy, and for Neil Peart for amazing skill - watch any of his drum solos throughout the years. I can't get over the size of his.......drum kit.

Bill Bruford is probably my fav.

Ginger Baker's live work in Cream is exemplary.

Bonzo & Mooney. It's a cliche choice, but their live work gives me the ol' goosebumps.

Others of interest; Stewart Copeland, Ian Paice, Mitch Mitchell, Bill Ward, Michael Giles, Neil Peart, Carl Palmer....

John Bonham,Keith Moon,Ian Paice,Stewart Copeland,Mitch Mitchell,Roger of course and Phil Collins whose other projects like really lame love songs tend to overshadow his ability as a very imaginative and musical drummer.Coming more up to recent times Randy Castillo who used to play in Ozzys band,Tommy Lee,Tommy Aldridge & Mike Bordin are a few of my favourites.I play drums myself and used to drum along to Police albums on my pillows pretending to be Stewart Copeland.Still Do!
