I know that Brian deeply enjoys this classic Hermann Hesse novel. But I must be honest, I just recently read it and I DON'T GET IT! I'm so confused about reality in the book, which seems to change many times. I have many questions, like: who was Pablo? Hermine? Did they really exhist or did they have some sort of supernatural qualities? Was Harry really "mad". Was the theater all in Harry's mind?

Plus did the band Steppenwolf get their name from this book?

I hope somebody has read it and can help me. (If this doesn't work I might actually attempt to reach Brian on his website, this is bothering me so much). Thanks!!!

Brian has some eccentric tastes, doesn't he?
Aerosmith got their name from an old Western titled "Arrowsmith". I don't know about Steppenwolf.
Queen -- well, we all know where the name came from -- Freddie! (Regal, aristocratic, pomp and circumstance)

Yep, like Rush loves Ayn Rand...an acquired taste. It took me three weeks to read Atlas Shrugged when I was a teenager but I understood it and the reason why Rush uses her vision in their music. Neil Peart was a Rand scholar.

But nobody's actually read the book? There must be SOMEONE out there who has.

And Philipp is right, Hermann Hesse is supposed to be a genius and one of the worlds most profound authors of all time, or something like that. Which is why I feel dumb for not understanding it.

That's what I'm saying. I've already read that "fucking book" and want someone else who has to explain it to me.

I find that rude. If you must know I made this post quite some time ago and since have read it again. I posted this because I needed a second opinion so you can just shove yours since I guess you haven't read it or you would know what I'm talking about.
