My gaffer often says "We don't have two ears because we need telling twice", which is similar to his other wise offering "Why use three words when one will save your breath?"

I've learnt a lot from the gaffer in my life, he's full of good advice, even though he's barely ventured further than the end of the road. "The best place for dreams is in your head ", is what gaffer says.
But my particular favourite, and the one I adhere to most is "The only things you need in this life, young Rabon" he says, "are a full stomach and a glass to empty."
I love my gaffer - I'd be lost without him.

What's the best advice you've ever had?

My 'gaffer' ain't got as much to say as yours, young Rabon my lad, not since I had him put in the 'Dunlivin Home For The Mentally Absurd', rot him. We're lucky if we get the odd toot or strange clicking sound out of him these days. Mind you, his eyes still light up when there's totty about - so he's still in there somewhere, the old rogue.

The only bits of advice I can offer are: Always know your nearest exits in case you need to take flight suddenly..
And if you want to learn a language properly, learn it in bed with a native girl - I'd have got more of the classics from an hour's wrestling with a Greek wench than I did in four years at public school.

Well, I wouldn't call this the best advice but this is something valuable my mum taught me:

Anything (or atleast ALMOST everything) free on the internet is a scam.

(I stuck this on the ipod section, too....there are a FEW exceptions to this rule...like the free stuff we got off of kraft's website a few years ago..)

the best advice I ever got was "treat a woman like a Queen while she is young and she will forever fall in love with you, and after she gets old and useless.... trade her in for the newer model.. "

Of course I do not believe in that advice... except for treating them like Queens..

Whew, I got out of that one didn't I? Oh God, You are doing it again, you are typing what you are thinking.. no one wants to know what you are thinking.. well.. ok.. just stop.. I said STO

My old gaffer, bless his boots, always instilled in me to never give the time of day to an Irishman.

I have always stuck to his wise words.
