Brian did not like the sound of the first edition. He co-produced the second edition. But some copies of the original were already out.

I have to give it to them: the first edition indeed doesn't sound that good... (relatively)

Thank you... After looking at that site I also noticed a couple other changes, I think I was very lucky to have gotten this one, because a friend of mine went back there to pick his up 3 days later and got the re-release... so of course I HAD to go and buy that one as well.. I am deaf in my left eye (hahahaha) ear.. so I really couldn't tell the difference between the 2..

The blue-spined one was produced by Elliot Scheiner and the black-spined one by Brian May. I can hear definite differences between the two on different tracks (most notably The Prophet's song) and Brian's version also features the guitars more prominently on all tracks (naturally!).

Is this first version rare somehow. I mean, were there a thousand or a million copied released?. I've seen the blue one on stores here in Mexico several times but I already got the black stripe one (Brian May produced, 2002). If it is rare, maybe I could get the other one, who knows, haha :)
