Well it looks as though this might happen...a special 20th anniversary recreation of the greatest concert event of all time: Live Aid!

Faithful readers of Brian May's online Soapbox have read there that this may actually happen next summer...and that Brian himself will likely be involved in some way, shape, or form. I was JUST thinking about if there may be a Live Aid 2 next year, and lo and behold i read it the next day on Brian's website!

So what are your thoughts on this event possibly happening? Do you think it's a brilliant move, or a cash in? My fear is that it will become another show like the various "Woodstock" recreations they have done....these were sorely lacking in the originals feeling and meaning and were more like a slick marketing move. I fear that Live Aid 2 may turn into this.

The saving grace that makes me calm my concerns is the fact that Bob Geldof and Midge are heavily involved in it, as they should be. With them at the helm, i am sure it will be true to the originals real purpose for happening, which was to raise awareness and more importantly funds for the starving folks in Africa.

I'd like to hear everyone elses thoughts on the matter. Would you go if it happened? Would you want it to happen?

What bands would you think should be a part of Live Aid 2? Now here's a topic of discussion in itself!

And what about that long rumored "reforming" of Queen...would'nt Live Aid 2 be the ultimate gig to have Queen (WITH JOHN!!) perform again in front of the world? I for one think that THAT alone would once again steal the show for Queen.

Freddie would be smiling if he were watching i'm sure!

Now onto the discussion...let er' rip!

John is not a heartless beast... maybe he would do something for Africa.

Maybe it's a good idea, though it would never become as great as in 1985. The music world has changed the younger people in this world only like the commercial shit like Black Eyes Peas en Britney Spears. I don't see millions of people watching Brian and Roger or The Boomtown Rats.

that's why they have to play WWRY at the beginning and WATC at the end :)
I would like to see this from Queen;

Queen+ Paul Rodgers
1. Medley;
We Will Rock You 2:00
I Want It All 4:00
Bohemian Rhapsody (Rock-part) 2:30

2. All Right Now 5:00
3. Radio Ga Ga 4:00
4. We Are The Champions 3:00

What has John not being a heartless beast got to do with him doing something for Africa? You have absolutely no idea what he "does" for Africa at all.

Just because John would chose not to play with Queen if Live Aid 2 does happen, it certainly doesn't mean that he cares any more or less about Africa than in 1985 or at any other point in his life.

Don't pretend that the artists appeared at Live Aid opriginally because of their conscience - they all knew full well what a boost it would be to their careers and how their sales would boost in the aftermath...... Queen knew this as well as anyone.

Personally, I hope it doesn't happen, beacuse there would be far too much "rubbish" on the bill - just like last time.

there are only 2 reasons I'd go to Live Aid 2.
1. To give money to a good charity (but right now, i cant afford to eat)
2. To see Queen play, and since thats not likely, theres only one chance, and i need at least 3 reasons!

besides, i hate modern day music. all it is is the same word repeated over and over again. eg. my, my, my. my, my, my. Guess what the songs called? oh My, my, my. Its crap as!!! they are literlly all the lyrics, and it was like number 2 or something in Australia! i could write better shit when drunk and stoned!!!

"John is not a heartless beast... maybe he would do something for Africa"

I don’t mean he is a heartless beast if he doesn't want play with Queen then. But maybe he would consider it because it's for charity.

By the way, I've read that Bono will fight the rest of his life for the poor people in this world. His band gives him full support achieving this target, according to a Dutch source (http://teletekst.nos.nl/gif/402-03.html). Maybe he's willing to organize something.

IF (and it's a big if) Queen played at a Live Aid 2, it would have to be Brian, Roger & John (John having came out of retirement for one night only). No guest lead singers.

Yes, my thoughts exactly.

When i first suggested that it would be perfect for Queen to "re-appear" at Live Aid 2..i of course ment for John to be there too!

I would not want it any other way...and i actually think that it would be one of the few things that he would seriously consider appearing at. The original event had a profound effect on him and i think there's a very possible chance he might do a one-off with Brian and Roger for the event. So instead of a "Led Zeppelin" reunion as was the case in the original Live Aid, 20 years later it would be a QUEEN REUNION!! Yes!! Just for this concert, what a highlight that would be....let's just hope they play BETTER then the Zep's did at the original show! Ha Ha Ha Ha!!

Hell, if they can do the flippin' Bajart Ballet thingy , why the *** not Live Aid 2???

U2, TOTO, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Maroon 5, Simpley Red.... enough potential to oranize a great event.

Thats it!

Chicken should be the main attraction at live aid. Because not only are they soooo friggin cool, but they could serve as food dishes for the hungry. Woo.
Cheers

Well, I'm only 16, so I can't really talk about the original event. But my parents were there, in Wmbley Stadium on that day, and they said it was an awesome experience. If Queen did something, and U2, and perhaps if some talented yet unsigned bands were dug out, then maybe we could see a recreation that summers afternoon? It'd need proper organisation, and with modern technology, concerts could take place all around the world over the course of that day? How cool would it be to have a world fighting poverty through music? I'd back it!

You know my thoughts on this matter is that from what I have been gathering from my nosing around looking for things about Queen, it seems to me that these guys are in fact getting Old, Tired, and have contributed GREATLY to Many Causes. As a GREAT QUEEN would, and I think that what they want to happen in that matter should happen but I also think that they should take it easy!

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN-ette!
