I can just imagine the set list now, all greatest hits that we have all heard played to death. I also just can't see Paul Rodger's pulling it off. He doesn't have the range or delicate touches that Queen material requires. In my opinion, the best front man I have ever seen is Jeff Scott Soto. He would have blown everyone away and been versatile enough to sing new material and provide the energy that is required on stage. You only have to compare both Jeff's and Paul's performances with Queen to see my point. If only you could have seen Jeff perform Stone Cold Crazy with Brain and Roger at The Written in the Stars party. Simply check out Jeff's Convention DVD to see all the evidence you need.

I am disappointed and feel sorry to say that another greatest hits tour just doesn't interest me at all, certainly not with Paul Rodger's as the front man. I just can't see him pulling it off and he doesn't seem suited to sing Queen songs from what I have heard!

I totally disagree with you.
delicate? The studio versions maybe, but just listen to IWTBF or Hammer to Fall; although I love these numbers live, and I think that Freddie's rough 80s voice is fantastic, it's everything but delicate.

If the concerts will be a 2 hour version of Allright Now so to speak, then it will be great!

"I believe!" :p

Hey, I Sirius B, here's Tom... I am a friend of Jeff (I organised Jeff's french concerts for two years) , so I totally agree with you : Jeff would have been a better choice. he's better as a performer...

But I think Queen choose Paul Rodgers for two reasons :

- They are from the same generation, same age, same roots... Jeff is very different from englishmen in their late 50's

- Jeff is a KILLER on stage : maybe they had enough to be eclipsed by a singer... B & R wants their part of fame now. Jeff would have turned to the ultimate rock star... Too good for the job.

Anyway, I know Jeff is in contact with the band, so... maybe at one point they will do this... I sincerely hope they will.

They deserve Jeff, and Jeff deserves the job.

It remains to be seen, but I believe the hype will take over from the quality. My main point is though, that it would be amazing to hear something other than the usual standards! Then again, they have an opportunity to really do something special, but unlike yourself, I think they could have done a lot better! The choice of Paul Rodgers, really doesn't make any sense to me at all!

Id like the boys not to call it Queen + Paul Rodgers. Brian May and Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers would be much better..
Then, they could do more songs. Few Queen songs, few Free songs and their solo things.. that would make me happy and satisfied:)

I agree, from what I've seen that Jeff is a better singer and front-man than Paul. However, Jeff is no way nearly as well known in the UK as Paul, and bringing his own songs to the Queen tour wouldn't work, therefor he would be much more likely to be seen as a "replacement" than Paul, which as we know is being billed as Queen+ Paul Rodgers. Also I agree with the age and upbringing comment earlier.
I have seen Jeff sing on many occasions, and I do think that he is absolutly brilliant, and one of the best frontmen that I have seen, but not right for this tour for the reasons above.

I think that most people who will visit the
concerts are not die hard Queen fans like
we are. And these People want to see that same
old Hits instead of It's late or White Queen.
Unfortunately.

We should start a new topic...what will the set list be! I can just imagine it now. I hope they have the balls to play stuff from The Miracle, Innuendo and Made in Heaven, as they have never done any of that stuff live before. I know what I would like to see, but I just know they are going to do the same old greatest hits. Such a waste, bet then what can we really expect from these aging rockers! Ha ha!

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, gets my personal award for "MOST DILDO-NIC BRAINFART OF THE YEAR, 2004". Goddamn, you idiot, take your head out of your ass for 10 seconds, swab out your ears and nostrils, and breath some fresh air. Oh, yes indeed, I'm quite sure you're spot on: Roger Taylor & Brian May are afraid of being upstaged. Jeesis Christ, you're an idiot. Don't you have some Pokemon cards to sort instead of writing this insane rubbish?

Sorry, but are you drunk ?
This is a forum where I can express my opinion.

I don't know what you mean with this Pokemon stuff, because I'm sure I already discovered Queen when you were'nt born, but anyway...

You seems to be very upset. I don't know if you discovered your girlfriend with your dog or if you're upset because Queen will not play in the USA. BUT THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM.

SO LISTEN, you desperate MOTHERFUCKER : I have nothing to do with your fucking personal award, so can you please put it in your ass and die in absolute pain ?

The world will be a better place without you because your negativeness is desperate.

Thanks to let us express opinion without censorship, ok?

Sorry for all americans, but this fucker has a very actual American attitude. Sure you supported Bush, you poor idiot ;-)))

Whoever Bohemian is, I find it quite offensive that you have such an aggressive attitude to what was a very realistic debate between fans.

I've been saying for the last eighteen months at least that I've been aware of JSS that he is THE ONLY solution for Queen to do a tour that breaks new ground. Anyone who saw the shows on Jeff's recent tour (Wolverhampton supporting Tyketto, the mighty Liverpool birthday set) will know he is an outstanding performer, a great voice and with a suitable sense of humour to bring these Queen songs back to life and make them his own. Just an opinion, but I'm with Sirius here (how's it going mate?) that this is a missed opportunity.

Dave

I'm too.

But some people seems to find this idea so dangerous that they agress everyone...

Sad.
